Steph's English notes are not substantial

Apr 28, 2008 12:52

On my birthday last Friday, I took some rather copious notes in English class. Okay, so I took my real ones on another page. But I also had Justin Masterson's lovely start on the brain...

That's what I thought when I finished it - I looked at it and thought, "Oh, crap, they look slashy! Whoops...!"

...those OTPs cracked me up. Because they're probably true.

You see, I can't ship Jed with anybody. I know everybody is gonna want to put him and Jacoby together because of their past(this is basically a really annoying/popular thing that people do they like to ship people who've known each other forever/got traded to the same team together/etc....I just don't like it unless if it's done right or it's rather legit sounding)

In other news, waiting for DVDs to burn is le suck

I can't ship him with anybody, either - I just don't see it, and I'm not sure why.

Oh, the 'childhood friends' thing - it's hugely popular in manga and anime, too. It's just...if you've known somebody for that long, you probably would've noticed the spark years ago...

Ugh, burning...it takes forever. I remember when I had to burn CDs with Windows Media Player in the days before iTunes - it took a huge chunk out of my day. I can't imagine DVDs are any faster...

Jed just is too...dorky to be in a relationship. But it's not like there's anything wrong with that. I'm the same way. :)

Childhood friends angles....I used to support those angles but then I thought about it. You see, in most cases, childhood friends saw each other in some really really embarrassing stages of life. Like they may still think of each other as like their pet nicknames like "Gooberface" or some shit or they think of them and think "Man remember the time you crapped your pants and threw your underwear in the yard?" or some shit like that. I mean come on, how the fuck can you be destined to marry/be with someone who you used to shoot snotrockets at unsuspecting people with or whatever the hell else?

Yeah I burned like 6 DVD's(5 of them were of the same thing though) and it worked out all well and stuff, but the process takes FOREVER

Oh, so am I, actually - it's a little weird, but Jed's someone I can kind of identify with on a few levels. I understand the dorkiness (and try to embrace it, because it's fun). (I seriously wouldn't be surprised to find out he's started dating someone from MIT, though. That would amuse me...)

...that pretty much sums it up. When you've known somebody that long and seen things like that, the romance just pretty much goes out the window. That's why the Jed/Jacoby thing wouldn't work. Besides, if they've had bets involving mohawks, one wonders what else they've done both before and after that...

Childhood friends and romance...they just don't mix. However there are exceptions to the rule, as I have said before. There's always exceptions. But it's just more or less like I mean longtime friends whom it's only kinda of "natural" for them to get together works for me. Or people who became friends like...high school/college aged works too. Like you know what I mean? The friends that people are always like "They work so well together....WTF?!" kind of deal.

Yeah - David Wright and Jose Reyes are one of those exceptions - they just seem to work. Sometimes people just look...right together (no pun intended, I swear!) On the other hand, two people like, say, Jed and Jacoby don't seem to have that. I've never seen it.

I'd really like to see someone interview them together. They'd probably be hilarious, what with the shit they must have on each other...
