So I'm finally settled down for the first time this weekend, and I'm all set to write my two essays (both of which are due Friday). The only problem with this is that today my campus is having its big last fling before
Dead Week* and is partying right outside my dorm building. This is making writing two essays rather difficult. A few of my friends and I checked the big party out earlier, but we didn't stay all that long - it's nothing special. The theme is 'Go West' this year, so it's basically a Manifest Destiny party. (The one upside? Oregon Trail references everywhere. I've been cracking jokes left and right about that game because it now owns my soul.)
I had a nice time with my family last night, even though all we did was sit in the hotel and watch TV. It was very relaxing. They said they'd order me an Angel Pagan shirt, too, which I'm excited about - it'll give me something to wear to Shea on May 10th. That's right - the first thing I'm doing upon going home is going to a Mets game. I need baseball that badly.
Actually, on Thursday I sat and watched my college baseball team play, but my family and I made up about half of the crowd and there were only four of us. (Seriously, besides us there were only about four or five more people watching.) I decided that somebody had to support the college team and I promptly went to my college bookstore and bought a hat. I think I may be the only person on campus not on the team that owns one of these hats because I don't see them anywhere. Someone in my high school graduating class is on the team, though, which is awesome!
I also discovered that whenever my birthday is on a Friday, as it was yesterday, it falls on Arbor Day.
...and suddenly, everything makes sense.
I guess it was bound to be explained at some point. I just didn't realize it would happen like this.
I'll finally be around for a Sox game! I think I've only been present for one or two this week, but tonight I'm all set to go! It was a rather disheartening loss yesterday, or so I've heard, but I'm ready to go tonight and I'm hoping for a win (and a healthy bullpen, too). Hopefully getting out of that clubhouse in Boston should help them all recover...
Also, the apocalypse is nigh. Scott Schoenweis just got three outs without giving up a run. I am most perplexed, but am also quite relieved.
*My college doesn't refer to exam week or the studying period before as 'Dead Week,' but many colleges (such as Stanford) use it, so I have adopted it. I rather like the term - it's fitting.
