Wow. That game was downright poetic. Have I ever mentioned how much I love baseball?
I know I've mentioned how much I hate ESPN lately, though. First there was
that whole racism ordeal a few weeks ago. Tonight they did two more things that truly irked me.
1. They ruined Jon Lester's no-hitter by saying he had given up "no hits through three" on national television. All my knocking on wood was for naught.
2. They mentioned that Ryan Garko, despite having gone to Stanford, was a "normal guy" with a "great sense of humor." Were they claiming that those kids are elitist, or that they're strange and overly-serious? Sure, they may have a point with Chris Carter as far as 'overly-serious' goes, but that doesn't explain...most of the things I love about that school.
For example, can these kids really be all that serious if the members of their marching band wear uniforms like this?
And for that matter, what of the marching band's famed mascot? Would a group of incredibly serious people allow such a thing to even exist at their college?
Let's not even go into the ritual process that students go through to become the Tree - they perform all kinds of crazy stunts to win the honor. It's really quite fascinating - and not very serious.
Oh, and the most easily amused Oregonian ever attended the school, too.
So, uhm...yeah. What's your point, ESPN? This ain't Harvard or Yale. It's different. Much different.
(Jed's all set to debut tomorrow! I'm totally not getting any sleep tonight...!)
