Right, things were looking lovely until seven runs came in during the top of the ninth. As far as the pitching went on our side, it wasn't bad at first - Wake did a fine job. Actually, everybody did fine until Hunter Jones and Lee Gronkiewicz came in during the ninth. As I write this, I'm watching the bottom of the ninth, and since there's a possibility that this game could make it to extra innings the stress is killing me.
Okay, forget extra innings. Argenis is just a kid, anyway. I don't want to put all the pressure on him. Likewise with Brandon. Those two are still young.
So here's my list of Things That Were Fun About This Broadcast:
~ My Pac-10 Triangle! On my television! (That'd be Dustin at second, Jed at short and Jacoby in center.)
~ Jed has a dorky batting stance. He also wears elbow pads that make him look like a little kid about to go rollerskating.
~ The first Sox game I got to watch this year was broadcast in HD. Yay!
~ I think it was during the seventh inning when it happened, but I'm not sure...either way, someone hit a roller between third and short, which Jed was unable to get to. They cut to him talking to someone off-camera, and then he cracked himself up on national television. YES.
~ BOBBY KIELTY. The way he started making faces behind an oblivious Jacoby was hysterical. The best part is that Jacoby never noticed a thing. (Apparently,
center_field will have this up on her blog later tonight! I can't wait!)
~ George Kottaras legged out an infield hit and then tripped and fell behind first base. It was pretty funny. (In an earlier inning, he actually smiled on TV. It was nice to see him happy!)
(EDIT: Apparently George fell because he got hurt. This is most definitely not good news. We'll see how serious it is - and let's hope it's not.)
In other news,
the problem of Jonathan's contract has been solved, so hopefully he'll be quiet now. If he's smart, he'll learn from this and understand not to make such a big deal out of it next time.
Oh, and
MLB.com has a feature on Rick Astley Justin Masterson today. That'll make anyone feel better after what happened today!
(And speaking of Rick Astley,
meril linked me to
this and I had to share it with all of you...)
EDIT:
center_field has the Kielty footage up! Check it out
here! (If you didn't know by now, this is why her blog is amazing. Well, this is one of the reasons, at least. There's too many to count...)
