Today the Globe ran
an article on Jacoby Ellsbury. Now there really wasn't anything we didn't know about Jacoby before - it covers his heritage, his off-season and his reaction to possibly being traded. What caught my eye, though, was this:
"I talked to [fellow Sox prospect] Jed Lowrie because he was mentioned in the trade. We were like, 'Get your jacket ready,' and stuff like that, but that was it. I came back for one appearance in Boston and Tito just told me to continue to work hard. He knew it was out of my hands."
Jacoby called his friend from high school! Awww...
In other news,
Coco and Lugo both have minor injuries and are sitting today. They'll both be fine, so we've got nothing to worry about. On that note, though, keep an eye on Argenis Diaz, who is starting in place of Lugo today. I followed him when he played winter ball in Hawaii, and he was positively fantastic, keeping his average over .400 until the very end - he ended his time there at .358.
Here's
Argenis' SoxProspects.com page. Right now they're projecting him to start in Lancaster, but we'll see how that goes. He still has a lot of work to do, but he has plenty of time to improve.
Otherwise, that's it. I should probably have lunch now.
EDIT:
Here's a nice comprehensive article from MiLB.com about everyone's favorite farm system! Everyone is listed alphabetically - except, strangely, Jed Lowrie and Justin Masterson, who are switched for reasons unknown. I think someone just messed up.
