...I can't believe it. This is totally surreal.

Right, let me try to come down to earth for a minute so I can write this.

Yesterday didn't seem like it would be the best baseball day I've had in months at first. I found out in the middle of the afternoon that Clay had been shut down for the season and the Yankees had a strong lead over the Orioles for most of their game. The Sox won, of course, behind a totally excellent Matsuzaka who was pitching like he was playing at Kōshien all over again. Actually, as soon as the Yankees ended up losing, it did actually look like there were a bunch of teenagers out there.

It was fun to watch the players and the fans keeping tabs on the Orioles - the fans were watching on the Jumbotron, which was awesome. And then there was that celebration in the clubhouse which spilled onto the field...I have seen the footage, and it is absolutely hilarious. Here's where I saw it (I love this blog to death, incidentally) - watch it for yourself, but I have to issue a Papelbon warning. Our notorious closer is not wearing his pants in the beginning.

More good news - Ken Rosenthal has jumped on the Pedroia bandwagon! He's declared our second baseman to be the AL Rookie of the Year, just like everyone else has. I've said it before, and I'll say it again - I love that kid. I absolutely adore him.

Even more good news: my family is probably having the best afternoon they've had in some time. The Mets are finally playing well again. The Phillies-Nationals game doesn't start until later tonight, so we have to wait and see how that goes. If the night ends in a tie with one game left...This is officially the most exciting September I've seen in my entire life.

This Monday is October 1st. One month, and it's all over, which is a shame considering how great it's been this year. But let's just get the regular season out of the way first. Whilst these games don't really matter all that much, it'd be nice to win them anyway to ensure ourselves of the best record in baseball and to get Pedroia's average a little higher. He's tied with the record-holding Viox right now...this is literally coming down to the wire.

baseball: jim viox, baseball: mets, baseball: phillies, baseball: nationals, baseball: daisuke matsuzaka, baseball: yankees, baseball: sox clinch!, baseball: clay buchholz, baseball: pedroia = rookie of the year, baseball: orioles, baseball: dustin pedroia
