Pimp Marco's ride, somebody!

Somebody tell Marco to get a new car. Please.

I'm watching the race right now as I study Japanese, and Marco's car has decided to fail him again. This means that this DNF is not his fault. Dario is currently leading with Tony in tow, though, and Scott Dixon is in third. The championship's really coming down to the wire, I have to say...

Baseball's treated me better today, though. The Sox won through their magical rookie power again - the only Sox runners to cross the plate were Dustin Pedroia and Jacoby Ellsbury. (I'm a total loser, by the way - when Papelbon came out for the ninth, I blasted I'm Shipping Up To Boston on my laptop. If I had Wild Thing on my laptop, I would've played both of them.) I am also delighting in the action in the Bronx today - Tampa Bay, who has been officially eliminated from the postseason by our win today, mauled the Yankees on their own turf (8-2). Now how humiliating is that?

For those who missed my edit yesterday, how about Clay Buchholz? There's even more magical Sox rookie power for you! There's totally no way you couldn't know by now, but if you don't, the kid threw a no-hitter! (I was so excited that I wrote it on the white board on my dorm room door.) Just for that, Clay has been added to my 'Sox players I wish I could marry' list. That was exactly what this team needed - a game like that. That'll get these guys going!

I read on a blog somewhere that the 2007 Sox seem unmotivated and unwilling to perform in the clutch. After last night, that statement may have to be reevaluated. The defensive plays were brilliant (especially what Pedroia did in the seventh inning! Dustin never lets me down), and the offense came through when necessary to give Buchholz that extra security he needed to get the job done. And how clutch was Buchholz himself? He made some fantastic defensive plays himself and his pitching was nothing short of brilliant. Special thanks to Jason Varitek for calling one of the best games of his life, by the way - don't forget that fantastic pitching relies on good judgment from the catcher!

The Sox are six games ahead of the Yankees now. They have three games with Toronto at home and then four more with Baltimore on the road, after which they return home to play three with Tampa Bay. Then there's a day off before the final three games against the Yankees this season - at Fenway. After that, it's just three more away with Toronto, then three more with Tampa Bay, the last three away games this season, and then two with Oakland and four with Minnesota at home.

I'd say that's a pretty decent schedule, wouldn't you?

(Note: When I started this entry, Dario Franchitti was leading the race. Now it's Tony Kanaan. Wait, no, it isn't. It's a bit complicated right now, so I'll edit this entry when the race is over and there's a clear running order. It might end up being a timed race, apparently...)

EDIT: Here's the running order at the finish. It did end up becoming a timed race, but it went to a final lap restart because Dixon tried to get around Buddy Rice, who was running in second, and an accident ensued involving Rice, Dixon and Franchitti. Tony went unharmed out in front and Danica got her best career finish (2nd). Dario Franchitti managed to get restarted, which will help him point-wise.
1. Tony Kanaan
2. Danica Patrick
3. Dan Wheldon (who started 16th!)
4. Darren Manning (go Darren!)
5. Kosuke Matsuura
6. Dario Franchitti

Dixon finished in 8th, if you're curious. Well, that's that!
