This is old news, but
Shonda Schilling has written a book about the Schilling family's third son, Grant, who has Asperger's syndrome, which I was diagnosed with myself last July. I think I'm going to actually pick the book up and read it. The article on it actually summed it up pretty nicely, too, which surprised me.
She [Shonda] discovered Asperger's is the result of peculiar wiring in the brain's frontal lobe, causing blips in the processing of social cues and making interactions difficult. Children with Asperger's can be loving and clever; they can also be extraordinary obstinate, socially clumsy and lack awareness of what others are thinking or feeling.
That's me to the letter. Most people with Asperger's have one or two strong areas of interest and strong suits, which might change over time (when I was little, for example, I loved dinosaurs). My major thing right now is baseball (obviously) and the one thing I've been good at my entire life is writing. I just thought this was worth sharing.
Also, youth of America, what are these
silly rubber bracelet things you are wearing? You confuse me.
