Prospects galore! And some Opening Day stuff, too.

So, uhm, yeah. We're totally stacked, y'know.

For those curious, no one on the DL is listed there, so Jed (who is probably starting in Pawtucket), Boof Bonser and Daisuke aren't on there right now. But look at those lists! I love our farm system. So much.

Speaking of the International League, I'll be in Scranton Wilkes-Barre on Sunday watching the Buffalo Bisons (i.e. stalking Mr. Joshua Michael Thole), so if there are any Mets or Yankees AAA prospects anyone wants me to keep an eye on, let me know! I am already going to get Ike Davis, so don't worry about him.

Opening Day at Citi Field, while I'm on the topic of baseball, was something amazing. My photos are here, and there are four videos up on Facebook, as well - the Mets and Marlins lineups, Darryl Strawberry throwing out the first pitch to Howard Johnson, and Frankie Rodriguez getting the last out of the game. Highlights included the Mets' medical staff being booed, Oliver Perez being booed just as loudly, Jon Niese existing (and tugging on people's sleeves to get them to pay attention), Johan pitching brilliantly, David going yard in his first at-bat, and the Mets actually winning a game for the first time in what feels like 20 years. It was magical. And windy. We were sitting in the very last row in the upper deck behind the out-of-town scoreboard, which is actually a wind tunnel, so scoring was made difficult and we kept getting hit in the face by paper. Oh, Mets, something always has to go wrong, doesn't it?

Oh, and soprano_no_eiji bought this brilliant bobblehead of Daniel Murphy:

Murph's eyes are definitely not actually that color. If anything, that's closer to Jed's eye color than Murph's. But I have to laugh at her anyway for buying anything with Murph's name on it.

Jon Niese starts on Thursday. This makes me a very happy puppy. How could you say no to this face, seriously?

And although you can't tell in this picture, this man has the most shapely legs in baseball right now. Which he shows off by wearing high socks. He knows how to make a girl who loves baseball happy, I'll tell you! His curveball is wicked, he rocks the high socks and he was born the day the Mets last won the World Series and is now pitching for them. (And Thole was born exactly one day after, so they should go and get married. The end.)

I am mildly frightened that if you search for 'Meoto Oofuri' and 'Tosei Oofuri' on Google Images, my Livejournal icons and a picture of me in my LSJUMB uniform appear. I must make up about 90% of the English-language Meoto blogging market or something.

...I am also frightened that Meoto has forever changed how I look at battery. Not Oofuri as a whole, but Meoto. I blame Junta for being too Jed-like and giggly and making me fall in love with him and giving me butterflies whenever he starts laughing. Grrrr, Junta. I still freaking have a crush on you even though you're married to Kazu. Argh.
