So yesterday
soprano_no_eiji and I took the plunge into Citizens Bank Park, a dangerous place to be if you're a Mets fan. I took a few precautions as a result, such as wearing my Stanford baseball shirt and hat instead of anything Mets-related, which was justified because a Mr. John Mayberry Jr. was in the building.
I did not see Mayberry. It was tragic.
I did, however, get to see Josh Thole, someone I hadn't been in the same place as since March. We scared the people in front of us by absolutely screaming when he came in to pinch-hit for Tim Redding, and although he ended up flying out to left field seeing him was still a total joy. I also got excited when they played All Right Now in between innings, even shrieking, "STANFORD!" and searching in vain for the appearance of Mayberry, for what else could the theme song of the LSJUMB signify?
All in all, it was a fun night, even though we lost (again) and Thole didn't get a hit. Poor baby!
Pictures are
here! They're kind of blurry because we were in right field, but I did my best!
