I met Gary Carter!

Tonight
soprano_no_eiji and I went to a Lancaster Barnstormers game! The Long Island Ducks were their opponents tonight, and as Mets fans know, the Ducks are currently managed by Gary Carter. It turns out Kid was signing autographs before the game, so I ran over to him with
soprano_no_eiji's notebook filled with food shopping lists and got him to sign it! It was kind of amazing and Spring Training-like.

Speaking of Spring Training, THOLE. EEEEEEEE. He's been on fire lately! I'm so proud of that kid! So beyond proud! Now he and Niese, who are married by FATE, have to go out and become the best battery ever. 'Nuff said.

Also, if you're ever at a Barnstormers game, be prepared for odd chants. One of them...well, before the game, they designate one player from the opposing side. During each plate appearance that he makes, the crowd begins to chant "FROOOOSTY, FROOOOSTY!" (ala "LARRY! LARRY!" whenever Mets fans see Chipper Jones); if this player strikes out, the section that screams the loudest gets a free Frosty from Wendy's. Seriously. Everybody in the section. We were jealous.

Anyway, the Ducks won the affair 6-3, and you can read the recap here. Independent league baseball is...well, erm, the quality of play might not be the highest, but the entertainment in between innings is top-notch crap. I never fail to laugh hysterically.
