I just spent a good eleven hours of my life dressed up as a fictional pitcher. Let me just say that after several hours, the band on the wig starts to hurt. Actually, that wig in general is a pain to work with...I have decided that Sakaeguchi will be much easier the next time I go to a con. Either way, the convention was fun...and most importantly, there was Oofuri merchandise.
Look! There were these pin/button things! The lady who ran the stand selling these was one of maybe five people who knew who I was. Okay, closeup time!
It's Izumi and Hama-chan! Awwww! I love how the rest of the ouendan is in the background.
Abe and Mihashi! Aren't they adorable?
Pencilboard one, from the front. I was really excited to find something in America with Tajima and Hanai on it.
The back. This is probably the most famous scene from the anime (and is, of course, just asking for it in the slash department).
Pencilboard two, from the front. See the team in the back? Mizutani's not there. ...That's because he's off to the right, GETTING TO PRACTICE LATE. (Look near Mihashi's hat - he's right above it!)
And the back. It was here that I noticed that Abe is quasi-smiling. Wow.
I got the news about Schill this morning at my friend's house as we prepared to go to the con (we had Sportscenter on). It's a shame, really - he really wanted to throw again, and now he's being denied the opportunity by his own shoulder. He's had a wonderful career with many fantastic moments in it (including receiving a few World Series rings), and he'll be missed.
When he came back from the rehab on his ankle, I was there. He came out of the bullpen that night against the Yankees...I saw him run in out of the pen to Aerosmith's Back In The Saddle from my seat near Pesky's Pole. He ended up earning the loss in that game, and I remember my eyes welling up with tears because I felt for him then. He had just come back from what was generally considered a heroic injury that summer - I was impressed at his recovery and was crushed by the loss. (The Sox won the game the next night by a score of 19-1, and my family and I had improved seats roughly thirteen rows behind home plate, which tempered that loss rather well, however.) But it's one of those baseball moments I'm going to remember my whole life - I was there when he made his return.
There probably won't be a return to be there for this time. Happy trails, Curt, and congratulations on a fantastic career.
Oh, and one more thing -
I love the Sox bullpen. Keep it real, guys. (The funniest part of this may be the 'what the fuck is going on' look on Beckett's face as he watches the video.)

List seven songs you are into right now. No matter what the genre, whether they have words, or even if they're not any good, but they must be songs you're really enjoying now. Post these instructions in your LJ along with your 7 songs. Then tag other people to see what they're listening to.
1. The Girl in Byakkoya - Susumu Hirasawa (From the film Paprika, which is insanely crazy and therefore amazing.)
2. Neraikyuu - the Oofuri soundtrack (It plays when Junta's on the mound. Go figure, I'm predictable.)
3. GUILTY BEAUTY LOVE - Suoh Tamaki (Okay, it was his seiyuu, Miyano Mamoru, and I listen to it a lot because he also voiced Riou from Oofuri. The song itself is from Ouran High School Host Club.)
4. Faraway - Paradise Go!! Go!! (It's from the Major soundtrack, and for reasons unknown I find it horribly addicting.)
5. DotA - Bassmaster (Yes, I am a nerd. Why do you ask?)
6. Caramelldansen - Caramell (It's the most freaking catchy song since Dragostea Din Tei, isn't it?)
7. Never Gonna Give You Up - Justin Masterson Rick Astley. (Oh, come on - I HAD to.)
