An all-pitching entry

For the first time in months, I threw a bullpen session today. And this time, I didn't even have to resort to the Wii to throw - I went out in the backyard, set up the little strike zone net we have (I need to give it nine sections to improve my command), and worked on my splitter. After some time, I finally got into a rhythm and rediscovered my pitching form. It felt wonderful to throw again.

I throw overhand. I always have, simply because I can't figure out when to release the ball when I throw underhand and because the pitchers I've taught myself by watching were all overhand pitchers (I re-watched Clay's no-hitter a few times to learn his form). Oh, and the fact that a softball doesn't exactly fit well in my hand was a contributing factor, too...I've tried to do my pitch grips on a softball, and my fingers just can't make it! Sad, but true...

I didn't throw too many pitches today - I need to break my arm back in, so I don't want to overtax myself right away. But the fact that my back is feeling good enough and that I've got a place to throw now...it feels great.

The Red Sox winning feels pretty great, too. From what I've read, Colon pitched quite wonderfully today. He is making Theo look like a genius right now. I also especially liked the 3-run homer from Varitek part. That part was pretty cool, too. On the other hand, the Mets game was depressing - Pelfrey had the best start of his life, and Wagner blew it. I was crushed - my heart goes out to Pelf, who was downright brilliant. See what happens when you trust your stuff, Mike? He's been much better recently, and he has nothing to show for it. I can't stand that.

I guess I'll watch the rest of this game anyway, even if a win would be meaningless at this point. The glory's already gone.

life: i need a hobby, baseball: mets, baseball, baseball: red sox
