I love it when my studies meet my real life!

Okay, the history camp I volunteer at during the summer just got better this year. Check out Week 2:

Step into the shoes of a child living in the 1850s! Learn about the time when “cotton was king” with different activities, including: building a simple machine, spinning and weaving, and playing that “new” game, base ball. At the end of the week, ( Read more... )

I love using those jokingly sometimes, though! They can be fun...(Yeah, I spend too much time on the internet now. Wow.)

I found a place where I can get the 1860s equipment, so I might invest in that and then make myself the 1860s-style uniform to play in...it'll be easier than trying to catch for both sides in a dress that I can't move in, that's for sure!

I have to stop myself from saying them aloud. Heh.

That's awesome! (I have to wear a dress as "Juliet" for my English class... if I can find one, that is.)

...I actually do say them out loud. Apparently I live in internet-land or something.

(A "Juliet dress?" At least that one might pop up at a costume shop...I have to try to be authentic, and that's hard and sometimes very irritatingly expensive...)

Oh, I bet that'd get expensive. I just have to find some sort of dress that is passably Shakespearean. Good thing I know about Shakespearean fashion, eh?

(And apparently I live in Canadaland...)

It really does...the dress I use normally cost me something like $125, but the corset was an extra $90. (I don't even wear the corset when I play baseball, either, because it honestly does work and it's hard to move in.) And it's definitely easier when you know what you're looking for, that's right!

(Canadaland? Did George do something and I missed it?)

I'm dying to try on a real Tudor costume, corset and all. I would totally love that.

(Haha, no, sadly--I was referring to my "eh.")

By the way, why aren't you gamethreading tonight?

The corset isn't honestly that great. Granted, I think people could use them for weight loss - they seriously make you a lot less hungry because of the way they constrict your organs.

I had a lot to concentrate on tonight - namely writing out my first job application ever. I'll probably be around tomorrow night, but tonight I just had too much to get done...

I just want to try it on... I'm such a geek I'd be completely excited out of my mind just to wear it.

Oh. Right. I have to go finish my homework after the game, actually...

It's definitely fun, although it does take some getting used to...it's pretty tight the first time.

I was horrible in college with it, though...I admit that the Red Sox were frequently more important than things like Japanese homework. (sheepish grin)
