I've just been denied health insurance for the second time in two weeks. Why? Because seeing a chiropractor after popping your back out and going regularly to ensure that you never have to deal with that kind of pain again is viewed as "risky" by insurance companies, even though i've never taken medication for my back, and even though the company has never paid for a dime of those expenses.

The good thing is that my dad can hire me to work for his company and then they are legally required to insure me. The host of bad things, however, is overwhelming. I'm young and pretty fucking healthy: how can they flat out deny me coverage? They didn't even offer an exorbitant deductible, they just refused. For seeing a chiropractor. This is disgusting. I can't believe that insurance companies are allowed to behave like this. Any company that is for profit should not determine who receives medical attention. It's wrong. Everybody deserves medical attention.

And just yesterday, congress added abortion as a covered service under the new health bill. That's great, abortion should be covered, but if it is, that bill is never going to pass. And the insurance companies are going to keep denying people. And we're going to keep getting robbed by these for-profit assholes.

Bring the state in, damnit. Bring some real competition to the market. If the state bureaucracy is really so much less efficient (like the republicans say), the for profit companies will compete and win, but everybody will be covered. If (as anybody with common sense knows) the state bureaucracy whips the rear ends of the for profit companies, so be it. They deserve to go out of business. The end.
