MCKEEVER WEEK!!!
Well we got to the school real early around 7:45 and then we finally loaded the luggage and got onto the buses…until we had to turn around because we forgot the nurse! (SOO FUNNY)So then when we finally got onto the road we arrived at McKeever where we unpacked the bus of luggage and then headed to a meeting. Here at the meeting we met Ms. Personality as we called her and then we learned about everything we had to do. As part of our job we had to write a 2 edition newspaper for the kids which turned out good. So then we headed to lunch and all the memories of bad food came back to my mind when I went in sixth grade. There would be the first time I got into trouble where lovely Stephanie a counselor yelled at me for not using the Gopher Line, a korny line to go get food in the cafeteria. (but this just made the trip even more fun) So then we headed to the aud. where they played a movie and then the kids headed outside and we went on assignment to do some research. After that we took a hike to Lake Wilhelm and there the kids took a break because they were tired. After that we went to dinner, this was the first and last time I would eat meat, and then we went and unpacked at our lodges.(the bad food was a memory for us all cus we had lots of waste and we all laughed) After that Mrs. Biers... who because of the weather could not plant trees at Super Wal-mart sang songs. Then we didn’t sing so she tried to get us to that did not happen... (we all got in trouble and it was soo funny) except Tyler sang most of the time. After that, we got our kids into bed and the high school counselors went and had our first late evening and hung out in the dining hall and played beer pong with water. Then came Tuesday where I got up bright and early! After breakfast, we got to hassle the kids at Passport Presentations where we made some kids sing, song ask the teachers to marry them, or even some to calisthenics that wore them out. After that we did what’s called concept paths and we got to check for passports and bust the kids if they didn’t have them. After that we went to lunch, and then I went with Mark to work with his group. Then we got some breaks a long the way and finally it was time for supper. After supper, Earl the birdman came and showed his birds…and he even had his one bird eat a real chick…which I did not watch because it was to sick. (i felt bad for the lil chicks but it made memories) After that we had another campfire because of the weather it was indoors and the counselors put on quite a show…the stumps for so funny and then we saw how funny the counselor Cory was. After that we hung out in the dining hall which became our main hangout for the evening. Then on Wednesday we pretty much got a lot of free time until later in the afternoon where we were supposed to do the Curious Heron Walk but Neina and I fell asleep and missed it. (that was a moment..we running cus we were hours late..gotta luv it)During this time, my dad came to visit with Jodie and I missed it because they thought we were on the walk but we actually were in our bunks passed out. After supper we did workshops with the kids and their parents. Here we got lots of food and enjoyed a great evening of bonding with the kids. After that we went on Night Watchers with the kids and the crew leaders. Ironically I got stuck with Stephanie but the kids were bad so she was yelling at them. After that we hung out in the cafeteria and got spooked when a truck came flying down the road and didn’t look like it was going to turn. We said it was Ace’s truck (ace was a guy from Dayton Ohio who looked like Ace Ventura and so the rest of the time we called him that). Thursday came and we set the tables because the kids went to magic spots really early. After breakfast, I sat around, did some homework and took a shower. At this time, the weather got bad and the kids came in for a bit. Then we did conversion lunches while a counselor got pissed at me for not having a menu.but we just laughed our butts off at her. Then the kids did various activities and we took care of the paper. While practicing for our skits that were to be that evening. At supper we snuck out with the stuff for our skits and went and practiced. Then it came time for our skits, where we had Mick dress up as Ace and then had Ben come out as the Birdman. After that skit, I told some “jokes” while we got ready for the ugliest creature where we fainted when we saw the “creature” and then a student came up and the creature fainted. After that, I did Fear Factor McKeever style where we mashed up different types of food that they had eaten during the week… made all the contestants a little sick. After that we did Who’s Line Is It Anyway where we had the Neina and Kelly use their arms and put food all over Paige and Alex. Then we did the elephant skit where Mick and Tyler used water and stepped over people but when it came time to Rader and another kid they splashed them with water. After that skit the teachers did the pie plane thing and Mr. Estock got pie all over his face! After that, we sang some songs and did some dances for the kids until it was time for them to go to. Once the skits were done and we did everything we headed to the outdoor classroom to listen to the story of the beads told by a real Indian. After that the kids went and got their own beads while we waited and took care of a few more things. After we said our goodnights, we headed to the Dining Hall for our last hangout and ate some pretty good pizza. Then Tyler and Mick duct taped a kid…but had to undo it. Once we were done we went to bed and Neina and I talked. The next morning was our last morning so we packed up and went to breakfast. After that we packed the luggage and went to our meeting where we got to take these evaluations of the camp and counselors. After that we did the Journey Home in the dining hall and went over for the last video. Then we went over for lunch and hung out with the kids until the buses came and took us home….the ride home was a trip…made me realize I really am going to miss this week.
FUNNY MOMENTS AND MEMORIES:
Diane- a witchy woman with two tone hair..boy we had jokes about her!!!
ACE- a weird guy that creeped us out, asked Mrs. Rice to dinner...sang her the buttercup song...even funnier then the first one
Stephanie- yelled at us for not using the gopher line then was cool at times, her flat out honest answer to what they do for 8 weeks to keep busy...drink....gotta luv this
Michelle- weird counselor who looked like an elf...we drew her..
The truck- garbage truck, freaked us out because it looked like it wasn’t going to stop
Ben and Mike banging on the windows made Kelly scream super loud
The nurse- talked to everyone for hours about nothing so we came up with key words when we tried to save someone from her
Mrs. Biers- judgmental, sang songs of toxic waste and chemicals, plants trees at super Wal-Mart....
