this monster of a hurricane was coming, and we ((the townspeople and I)) were stranded in the parking lot of a publix. ask me not why we did not take refuge IN the publix, because I don't know. anyway, the storm was raging all around us, this insane category five monster storm. we stranded townsfolk had set up a bunch of little awning like tents, and were barbecuing so that we didn't starve to death - it was very much like we were tailgating. the hurricane, however, wasn't touching our little camp - it was like we were all in a bubble. outside of the bubble, debris was flying everywhere, and by debris, I mean things like houses and people - it was pretty intense. anyway, we were barbecuing, and someone was making hot dogs, when suddenly we realized - we had no condiments. everyone started to panic, because we couldn't eat the hot dogs without condiments, and if we couldn't eat the hot dogs, we were going to starve to death in the middle of the hurricane. we realize that if we can just make it across the parking lot to publix, we can get condiments, and solve our problem. so I volunteered. I grabbed a shopping cart, and left the bubble - and nearly died. I started to run with the shopping cart, the wind slamming into me and nearly lifting me off the ground, the rain pounding down on me - but I made it to the door. I stepped inside, and it was like nothing was going on outside, because publix was completely normal - they had electricity, people doing their everyday grocery shopping - the only difference was, there was a SEVERE lack of condiments. after pleading with a store manager, I obtained half a bottle of ketchup, about a tablespoon of mustard in a jar, and an onion. I begged for more but they wouldn't give me anything else, so I stepped outside again. the storm had only gotten worse, and when I looked up, the eye of the storm was at the top of the sky, but it was an actual eye, looking down and blinking at me, and it wasn't calm like it was supposed to be, it was sending WALLS of wind and rain down so that I could barely stand up. suddenly the parking lot was enormous, so I began to run with my three condiments in my shopping cart, shouting, "HELP MEEE! HELP MEE! HEEEEEEEELP!" But no matter how much or loudly I yelled, none of the people in the bubble even looked up - they just kept on barbecuing, la di da. I ran and ran and ran, thinking I was going to die the entire way, but I made it. I fell into the bubble, and put the condiments on the table next to the buns - and lo and behold, something had happened to them. the ketchup an the mustard had both turned green - to which I exclaimed, "they've expired!" thinking maybe the onion was at least okay, I peeled the outer skin off and found that it had turned purple! It had expired, too. crushed, I turned to my fellow townspeople, and together they said, "go back."
go back?
"go back to publix and get more condiments."
I tried to explain that there WEREN'T any more condiments, and that I would die if I went out into that storm a third and fourth time, but they didn't care, they just shoved me out of the bubble, sans shopping cart, and went back to their barbecuing.

unfortunately, we'll never know if I made it, because at this point I woke up.
I'm pretty amazed. I haven't had such an epic dream in a long time. the whole time I was running through the storm, I felt like I was in some action movie. I was indiana jones. crazy.

missed govt this morning, shoot.
planning on going to r & e though, what a happy thought.
and after that dream, I'm totally craving a hot dog.

when I went to sleep, I had two socks on.
now that I'm awake, I've only got one. it's making me feel very unbalanced.

word to your mother.
