Hot 100?

Okay, I was a little curious and checked out Maxim's 2009 Hot 100 Women list.  o.O  It annoyed me to no end that all the girls were in bikinis or other similarly skanky clothing.  I suppose it makes sense, as Maxim is one of those 'girlie mags', but still!  I got thinking about it, and realized that in the old days, when all you showed off was your face and your hands - there was a lot less to go on.  There was a lot more that could be done under wraps.  However, I think Photoshop and Illustrator and 3-D reimaging evens the playing field.

None of these girls are as perfect as they look in a girlie mag.  They might be that skinny, and their cleavage might be really great, but they have their flaws, just like anyone else.  And if they don't have physical flaws, they sure as hell have emotional or personality-related flaws.

What would happen if instead of photographing these women in skanky poses in revealing clothing, we merely took full-page closeups of their face?  With makeup?  Without?  Would they still make the 'Top 100' in anyone's book?  Or would they just turn into butterfaces?

I've seen chicks who look great with regular makeup look horrifying on the day they don't wear it.  This isn't to make anyone paranoid - I'm talking about girls I knew in high school, as well as celebrities.  They don't have eyebrows because they've plucked them away, their skin breaks out the same as anyone else's, and they just look plain.

I'm not trying to say makeup or Photoshop or any of that enhancement is bad.  I'm just curious what it would be like if mass media changed their attitudes.  Stopped demanding so much from the same 200 people and actually looked at the rest of the world's population.  Find the girl with perfect, non-makeup skin.  Find the guy with two different color eyes.  Celebrated family instead of always talking about breakups.  Started featuring the girls who will never make it as models because they look too good {this is a phenomenon that believe it or not, actually exists!}.

I'm just rambling.  But I hope you enjoyed.
