Day 159. Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince - 'The Lightening-Struck Tower.'
I don't even know what to say about this chapter.
First things first - I feel so, so very sorry for Draco. Talk about a little boy who's just in over his head. And though it is kind-of long and meandering and...strange (possibly because it's not Harry and Dumbledore having the end-of-the-book recap), I absolutely ADORE Draco and Dumbledore's discussion.
I must say, Draco's plan was pretty good.
Okay.
That's the easy stuff. Now on to the hard.
Dumbledore. And Snape.
I just...don't believe it's as simple as all that.
For one - there is no way that Dumbledore couldn't have disarmed Draco, then immobilized Harry.
Then there's the end.
I just don't think Dumbledore was pleading with Snape for his life. From the moment they get back to Hogsmeade, he's saying he wants Severus. That sort-of single-mindedness seems odd of Dumbledore, if you're assuming all he wants is something for the potion he drank.
It just feels off, somehow. As does the pleading at the end. It doesn't come off as pleading for his life so much as pleading for Severus to do...something. Something previously agreed upon. Like his note to Petunia at the beginning of OotP. Dumbledore's a long-winded guy, but when he has understandings with people, he's straight-to-the point.
Of course, all this might be my crazy talking because if Snape is really evil-evil, I will have to do something drastic. If he is, I feel like that negates almost everything we know about Dumbledore and, by extension, the wizarding world.
I don't know. I guess we'll find out in about 75 hours.
I'm going to go throw up now.
