Title: Burning
Fandom: Original, dash of magic
Rating: G
Word count: 168

People in the village got used to houses burning down whenever those two had a quarrel. It was a well-known fact that both had immense arsenals of magic, and when they ran out of good and bad things to use it on, they’d turn on themselves.

Lover’s quarrel, outsiders would say. The usual shouting, name calling, pulling up past faults, the red faces, and the occasional threat to leave each other all pointed to the classical symptoms. Outsiders didn’t realize that the villagers had gotten so used to such quarrels that when the shouting started, villagers would rush home to get a nice picnic blanket.

Indeed, once the shouting prelude ended, the fireworks would fly out the windows, remnants of spells thrown at each other. Then, if the arguing was really bad, the house would start burning. Now that was always spectacular. Neither of the two seemed to realize that their house was vanishing… in fact, they didn’t notice the onlookers either.

Fiery passion, they said. How true.

I'm trying not to sound too cutesy, but I love the sparks in this. The fire between the two that became literal. How fun it would be to entertain oneself by listening to the wits the couple spat at one another.

Fabulous!
