2nd Violin Lesson

Sep 01, 2007 18:41

I had my 2nd violin lesson this morning. Lots of music theory and terminology was discussed. My "Don't Fret" finger board overlay arrived yesterday and I had my instructor put in on for me.

My assignment for this week is to extend the G scale up another octave, ending on the E string. This is to prepare me for the first big piece, J.S. Bach's "Jesu, Joy of Man's Desiring." I didn't think I was ready to tackle this big a piece so soon. My instructor is telling to to break it into chunks, play each note and don't worry about the slurs. I only have to work on the first 2 lines. This piece is on my want to learn to play list, I just didn't think I'd be getting to it so soon!

That lesson was about the fastest 45 minutes I had in a long time. Before I knew it, it was time for me to pack up.

So far, I'm having a lot more fun with this than I expected.
