Mr. Franklin gets his nails done

Oct 25, 2009 18:02

I took Mr. Franklin for his nail clipping. The breeder we got him from has a store front now, so they do wings and nails. They hadn't seen him in a few years so I figured it would also be a nice visit for them.

I swear Mr. Franklin remembers them he let them come right up to him and pet him and give him treat etc. And he didn't even grumble. He also let them give him some water which was good. They said we've done really well training him. Needless to say I am one proud birdie mama. We've managed to avoid reinforcing any very high strung behaviors, which is really great ( since catalina's are part scarlet and scarlets are very high strung).

Do I even need to go on about how I love my birdie baby? I didn't think so. Yeah love, I tell you.

So needless to say we are chatting about birds and such while we wait for Mr. Franklin to calm himself down. He does not like having his toenails trimmed up. And this crazy woman walks in, walks right up to him and he turns around, afraid, and bites my nose. She was escorted out of the store. Poor Mr. Franklin....that's displaced fear/aggression.

So yeah my nose is red and it hurts but Mr. Franklin is one handsome bird and he made friends with a little camalot macaw... Anyone want to buy the camalot for me???? I sooooo wish, they were sooo good with each other and Mr. Franklin isn't typically friendly with other birds but he liked the camalot.

Ah well, one day, we'll be able to get him a buddy.
