this place needs a party

Nov 12, 2011 18:33

[Tanquered had been his home, a place where he found comfort in all of the small things. It seemed that despite his attempts to circumvent his situation, he was certainly pleased to know that at the very least he had a place that would welcome him. As he was. As he was intended to be. He was missing a small piece of his puzzle, but he would have ( Read more... )

[Anna doesn't want to be here.

Going to a party of one of the most powerful vampires in the city when you're already what's on the menu wouldn't be smart in a normal universe, but in this universe -- refusing the invitation could be far worse.

Not to say that Anna liked it. She didn't. She'd been there for a month, and she was already sick of it, but she knew that fighting it wasn't going to get her anywhere. These weren't like the vamps back home. And the rules weren't the same.

So this is Anna, at the party, feeling a little apprehensive, but hoping that at the end of the night she will walk out of the party with most of her blood still in her body.

Hopefully.]

[Klaus circles around the girl, smirking softly as his hand brushes over the back of her hair.]

Are you enjoying yourself?

[she tenses at the hand to her hair -- personal contact from someone she doesn't quite trust isn't welcome, but she doesn't pull away. She doesn't want to offend him, which arguably could be worse.

She paints on a smile and nods]

Yeah. You know how to throw a great party.

[Yes, it would be much worse to flinch away and show fear.]

It's not as grand as the ones back home, but we do try to exceed expectations at the very least when forced to work with what's available.

[ Just as long as the "activities" don't involve getting chewed on, sure.

Buffy gives a thin-lipped smile at that, eyebrows raising as she gives a nod that's obviously forced and placating. ] Gee, providing invitations and everything. And here I thought you wouldn't need one. You know, public dwelling and all.

[ She steps into the museum hall, heels clicking on the tile floors as she shrugs off her jacket. It's a bad idea. But no worse than being here is a bad idea. As far as parties to walk yourself into as a Slayer, big gathering of vamps where you're likely the main course ... not the brightest. But, it meant getting an idea of who's who and, as much as she hated admitting that it was necessary, figuring out just how this place worked.

And so far, the only thing she's sure of is that there are way too many vampires here to take on all by her lonesome. Dear back-up: please arrive soon. And with weapons. Because one puny stake in her purse is beyond not gonna cut it. ]

[Anna is hanging out by the food table, drink in one hand and eying the food with the other. She's trying to figure out which food will make her blood the most unpalatable.]

Too bad garlic only works on your breath.

[and that was a not too muttered mutter.]

More like too bad pointy and wooden seems to have gone out of fashion with this city's founding. [ She glances around at the tables -- none of them wood. Naturally. ] Maybe it's just me, but I like my solutions permanent.

Not all of the vamps around here are allergic to wood. Fair warning.

[she isn't sure if any of them are going to show up here, but she's met them. And the ones from home are definitely not.]

And permanent solutions ... only get you in more trouble than you're already in.

[Bela hasn't been in Tanquered very long, not even a full day, but she's been told about this celebration, and what better way to acclimate than to attend?

She is completely clueless to the fact that she looks very much like someone Klaus knew a very long time ago.]

[He catches sight of her across the room and moves with startling quickness to get a close look. It is startling, but he knows quite easily that she's not Rose. Which is a shame, he'd missed his chance to be rid of her once and to not repeat that mistake would've made this event more pleasant.

It was odd though - to think there was a doppel of Rose. Of what importance had she been?

He'll just stalk her for a bit more, trying to get a sense of who she is.]

[The first thing on her list is to find Damon, if he is, in fact, here. Though she would never be one to admit it, she'd grown a bit attached to him since he turned her. The lack of him would be the one downside to being in such a city.

And apparently it is.

At some point, she takes notice of her stalker, though she doesn't make this obvious right off. Instead she makes her way to a nearby table for a drink--of the alcoholic variety.]

Won't you come have a drink with me? Or do you intend to watch me from afar all evening?

[She assumes he'll pick up on her questions.]

[He smirks, replying just as coolly as she seemed to be. From all the way over there.]

The view is quite nice from all the way over here. Perhaps you'll change that by joining me.
