I woke up a few moments ago. I was dreaming I was out shopping and everyone was on spring break. At the hotel, I had a separate room from James. It was because we were traveling with friends and had a girl's room and a guy's room. Still, when we bumped into Miranda, it gave her hope and satisfaction that we weren't staying together.
For whatever reason, she asked us to watch her bag for the day. Being kind, I said I would. I dutifully carried it around.
I stumbled upon a Swimmer store. I was excited because they had tons of stickers that I wanted to buy to share with my friend. This store was also like a hostel. In the back of the store there were giant 4 poster beds draped in a gauzy material. People used the area as a cheep place to stay during spring break.
Walking around, I realized that I had been trusted with Miranda's bag containing her personal effects- like her smart phone, I didn't open the bag though, because I knew it wasn't the moral thing to do. As I wandered I thought that she might expect me to rifle through her bag, because that is what she would do. She'd probably be surprised to get her bag back, unopened and her phone screen full of notifications and alerts,
Closer to the front of the store, there was a TV broadcasting about an ongoing murder investigation. It turns out one piece of suspected evidence had been seen near the shopping area I was visiting. They showed a cell phone photo of the bag on my back. I knew it was only a matter of time before I'd be answering questions about the bag. I only hoped I didn't have to be there when they opened it. I didn't want to invade Miranda's trust and I didn't want to be drawn into the investigation. Somehow it didn't surprise me that Miranda was in someway involved with a murder.
