I wrote a mini article in the heroes section of my myspace, and it triggered a lot of thinking.
An Ode To The Respectable.
Here's to the people who have enough sense to think for themselves. Here's to the people that won't change for their "friends", and don't care about losing their friends as long as they know who they are.
Here's to the people that make mistakes and actually feel bad about them. Here's to the people that are just looking for someone they can care about, even if it seems like they're using and abusing. Here's to the people that don't mean to hurt people, but they do.
Here's to the respectable.
I respect those who still know what life is- Those people that haven't lost sight of everything that is part of life. I respect those who don't get caught up in the material aspects of life, and the people that can look at the ugliest thing on earth and see some kind of beauty. I respect the ability to bring that beauty out through many amazing ways. Some people use art, some people write, and some people just talk about it. Many can simply think about it, and people can see it in their eyes and how they live their life.
Here's to the people that can look at a starving little kid and want to help, but they can also see beyond just his life. Here's to the people that can walk through a graveyard and not just see death. Those people that think about what happened in those people's lives, and want to know what the people could share with them if they were alive. That is worthy of respect. Here's to the person that can look at a piece of art and realize it can be interpreted in more than just their way. Here's to the person that realizes that sometimes art just shouldn't be interpreted, but loved for just what it is.
I respect those who don't have to try to be different; The people that just wake up and everyone can tell they know life beyond appearance. I respect knowledge. I respect understanding.
