[Nill came back to the church, to do what she could... and reluctantly survey the damage wrought from the fire. Saying that it was sight that could break your heart; that would not be an exaggeration for this little winged girl.
This was her only reminder of home. Her real home. Or at least it was.
Clutching the Nail of Helena between her two hands given to her by the Archbishop, being careful to avoid the sharp tip, she bit her lip and tried to keep herself together the best that she could. She wasn't going to let herself be seen crying.]
[The solemn archbishop had kept himself situated in the wake of the destruction, letting the anguish and abhorrence burn him up till he was likened to the cinders at his feet. The angelina had made not a sound, and yet somehow when the silence was placating and welcoming... That was when she would appear.
Worn from the inside out, he let his gaze pan to the source of that benign quietude. And there she was. He saw not the shine of the pristine relic in her hands, but the glass of her doll-like eyes, laced with a sympathy only something from above could bestow upon a despicable man like him.]

[Her lips parted, as if she were about to speak... only to close as she bent her head down, giving a polite greeting to Enrico in return. Then slowly, Nill began to make her way toward him, walking forward and watching her steps. With the fire gone, she looked cleaner and tranquil. Even if her eyes said differently.
Stopping less than a foot away from the Archbishop, the winged girl carefully presented the Nail of Helena to him with both hands. Safe and sound.]
Oh God what is she reaching for!?13th_crusaderJuly 4 2010, 06:27:51 UTC
[Watching the dusted sunlight filter prismatic rays behind her weightless steps, he found himself lost in the picturesque sight. Like gazing upon a stained window of Saint Micheal, he froze in awe, till her movement shattered the illusion like so much of the glass still scattered across the stone floor.]
Is that... Oh!
[How well his little angel had done. Protecting that most sacred relic. The spirit had been within him, whispering that it would remain unprofaned in her unstained hands. Raising from his seat he reached to touch her outstretched hand, glee in his strained heart as he wrapped around the precious treasure and knelt just enough to push her bangs from her crown.]
Splendido.. Wonderful, you wonderful miracoloso girl..!
[And there his lips blessed her brow once, marking his favor upon her.]
[The task was only half as meaningful to her, unfortunately.
Nill knew that the Archbishop had risked his neck to retrieve the Nail of Helena, and left the strange relic in her care so that it would be kept safe. It only felt right to return it to him, now that everything was said and done. Just like the cassock that was returned to him before. He always did plenty for her.
That is why, she blinked up at him as he drew near, leaning back instinctively on her heals. He seemed pleased, but it was... a little overwhelming. The poor thing didn't even have enough time to react to the kiss placed upon her brow until it was already well over.]
...
[Nill tilted her down meekly, as her cheeks flushed to a deep rosy red. What...? What just happened?]
[The thrill of that moment to have everything he wants kept safe to fall into place, had moved him with such unexpectancy that Maxwell actually shocked himself into submission. Anderson would have a field day to have seen him do such a compassionate thing. Alabaster cheeks staining rosette from his own embarrassment, he shifted a hand over his mouth and inched himself back upon his own heels.]
A-ahi.. You did..
[A regale clear of his throat to regain an ounce of his dignity back, he righted himself and placed the nail carefully in both hands.]
You did a fine job.. God would bless your efforts surely.. for you see.
[Allowing himself to slowly drop level with her again, he held the treasure up, letting the light of day catch the glint of steel and a strange red iridescence that stained the very tip.]
This relic.. is going to save us. It is the key to salvation, Angelina.
[It's a good thing that Nill was distracted enough by her own embarrassment, or else she would have been quicker to notice his. -- At least Enrico had that in his favor.
She shifted her gaze back up to the Archbishop once he cleared his throat, and a small smile started to creep up along her face. It was always felt good to be praised.
Then as he lowered himself back down to her level, the Nail caught her attention again, and she couldn't help but tilt her head a bit to one side like a curious dog as he explained.]
...?
["The key to salvation"...
Nill couldn't understand it, at least not by simply looking at the Nail.]
