Virgins!
Today was Virgin Fest out at Pimlico Race Way in B'almore. Ray, Annie, Sasha and I hopped in my car and made the trek. I say trek because the traffic both in and out later sucked ass. The show however was great. With temps in the upper 90's and humidity in the upper 90's... it was, well, fucking hot. But we got VIP tickets you see, so we parked our happy asses in the shade and A/C where others could not go. Sweet. It was a huge show with tons of bands. Really more than you could see in one day and enjoy. So we decided on a specific set in this order: The (end of) Fratellis, Paolo Nutini, Ben Jelen, Peter Bjorn and John, Ben Harper, The Beastie Boys, and the Police. We also caught the last song of Modest Mouse. Why the fuck they decided to put the Police and Modest Mouse on at the same time I will never know. All the bands rocked... love each of them, but the Police took it up a notch. What incredibly tight musicians! Amazing. It allowed them to alter some of the songs a bit, have fun, and make them fresh and in some cases even better. The big pleaser for me was King of Pain and So Lonely back to back. Fuck an A! My only issue was that they didn't interact with the crowd much. Oh well.
We managed to beat the heat for the most part but we saw tons of people who were pretty wasted. Figuratively and otherwise. Good people watching. I think I am a fan of hot girls. Just a thought. I am also a fan of stupid business names. We got quite the laugh out of "Ding Ho's" which was right next to the insurance agent and the check casher. Not sure what goes down at Ding Ho's. We also saw "Da'Joint." Again, no idea what goes down there, but I'm sure it just ain't right.
So all in all a great day. I didn't even get sunburned. Not sure how I managed that. Excellent.
