Verizon FiOS service is here.

So I am getting Verizon FiOS today. So far things have gone well. I intially signed up online last week and was scheduled for today. I'm getting internet, phone, and TV. Sweet. All for around $75. Not bad as that is just a little bit more than what I was paying already without the TV.

Since signing up I have gotten two phone calls from real people reminding me of my service installation. Good communication so far. The installer, Ron, called me this morning just before 8am and said he'd be here in 1/2 an hour. He was right here, right on time. Nice.

We walked around and I showed him where the pole out back was, took him into the basement and showed him the phone set up, then the TV, and chatted about the internet situation. Not sure we are on the same wave length there, but if we can the service hooked up, I (with help from my friends) get things the rest of the way.

Ron seems like a good guy. He handed me my initial packet of goodies, which was just the happy stuff about all the great things I can do with FiOS. I already know. He's outback working on the pole stuff. I got him to agree to leave the copper lines hooked up just in case.

So I am going to try to keep the progress updated as long as I can. Once the new box goes up on the outside of the house, the DSL will go down and I will be dark till we get the system connected up to the network. More to come!
