I had a wonderful time this weekend. Thank you everyone who came out of the woodwork to see me. I loved it.
I arrived on Friday and went to visit Dr. Storl and played catch-up with her (she was actually glancing over one of my old papers when I walked in). On the way to her office I had a lovely run-in with George, then John Irish, and finally, Emlyn. Great surprise there. : )
I went to Theo's and drank delicio coffee and was happily reminded that I am in fact, a beautiful woman. Thanks Al! (Its nice to be appreciated from time to time). Walked around the district with the beautiful Linnea, doing photography homework. Went to dinner with German Jess (I miss that girl constantly). Back to Theo's (erghhh) to see Dav, Sean, Linsdey, and Jesssssssss (of the Jessica Joy variety). Eventually walked down to Bluecat from there, and had fucking fantastic conversation (ie, drunk stories) from Al and Sean. It was great running into everyone: Leif, Rose, and Kyle too. (Drunk Kyle Ferguson: "Tits? You know a girl named Tits?" hi-larious!). Went to bed at Tiff's (Tit's) apartment.
The next morning I wandered down to Theo's for a donut and coffee and some slow wake-up reading (sometimes better than slow wake-up sex). My phone was dying, so Tony and I went to the House to recharge, and get some french press esspresso roast. YUM. Shared stories and gossipy bullshit and I met his rock collection and his cockateel (whose name I have already forgotten and discarded in favor of "Shitheel"). After too much coffee, went wandering in the rain around town in a really cool park. Eventually walked back to Theo's (I LOVE WALKING IN THAT TOWN!) (WE GO TO THEO'S TOO OFTEN!)
Met up with Drewwwwww! (Who I was very very very happy to see). He did smoke a very choking gross cigar though (ewwwwwwww). Still love ya Drew ;-). Had a distant conversation with Fran. Saw beautiful Jessss again. We decided to chop my locks back at her place, using only a pair of childsafe scissors and a bulky brush. It turned out well. ("Scene.") Back to Theo's to meet Dav. Onward ho to the liquor store where we picked up a bottle of Pinot Noir. Mmmmmm. When we got back to the House the only ones there were Joel and Carolyn. I gotta say, preeeetty awkward. I downed two glasses of wine awful quick'like in response. Other people arrived. Bonfire in backyard. Marshmellows! Mass drunkeness on my part. Met andJoel and his girlfriend Margot. Very sweet and skinny couple. At one point I freaked out DrunkSean:
"Oh my God! Look!"
"What?"
"Ne-nev-- Its Never-neverland!"
Slurry voice and wavering finger pointing at the sky; yeah, I was gone at this point. Sometime later I passed out on the couch. Woke up on Sunday and searched for my cell in the grasses out back. Tony, Carolyn, and Joel cooked up a brilliant brunch. Once again with the awkwardness, but it wasn't too bad, thank goodness for that. After that, I went and hung out with Jessica Joy again, and Susan. Back to the House for hackeysack and Dav time. I love that boy! Evolved into quiet time somehow. I took advantage and wrote two little poems, one of which is about Dav's front window:
Window Pane Perfection
Sinking sands
Silt slowly sliding down
distort my perception
whirling to create
a new confection.
And also, an unfinished commentary poem, inspired by Georgio Carlini:
Quibbling Scribblers
philosopher, mathematicians,
Copiers and pasters
googlers and students of all
humanity's greatest trait
and greatest fall.
we learn to try and try
and trial and error
but never seem to
absorb it all
our miniscule brains,
lunch to politicians
and evil morticians, cannot
unite a common goal.
we seperate but commiserate,
defecate and so allieviate, but
never are we able
to rule.
master your fears
your tears your
weaknesses and
strengths
your mind, body
and all your
addictions and
afflictions.
Cool, eh? After the poetry fest, I followed Dav to work (the on-campus coffeehouse). Read bits of the bawdy romance Tiff gave me for some reason (its historical? and slutty, like most of our conversations?). Did homework. Girl-talked with Tiff. Saw Emlyn again. Almost fell asleep in my squishy chair. Susan walked me back to the apartment, where we girl-talked for over an hour. Beddy-bye.
Woke up, the apartment was empty, packed up and drove home. The weekend was over.
Thank you everybody, it was a killer weekend, and I loved it. Hope to see you all soooooon!
