Once I called you brother- once I thought the chance to make you laugh was all I ever wanted~♫ iwontfade March 17 2011, 20:56:35 UTC
His fists are clenched into fists at his sides, a bit of armor still resting on his shoulder as a reminder of who he'd left behind and promised to make the one who lost sight of the light see the truth. He may be weaponless, but there were still ways to get Sora to stop. He knew it, and this was the last chance he would probably get.

Riku winces at the words, the dark intent. "You're wrong." Remember what the voice said... There was always something to protect; he's so far failed to reach the kid he once knew, but that didn't mean when he was at his weakest with nothing but a wooden sword and his horrid skill at magic to defend himself with that he would stop now.

"Sora, please. Listen. Whatever he's told you..." The reports are in his hand, and he's shaking. That Heartless... Seeing that scene in his family's kitchen...

"Come to tell me that he's wrong? That he's lied to me? Because from where I'm standing, he's been the only one telling the truth," he says, quickly moving to lower the blade to his side. Eyes narrow. This is dangerous territory, and Riku needs to know that. No one slanders his father like that. The papers are suspicious, and the determination...

"I'll give you one chance, Riku: turn around and leave. For the sake of our childhood memories."

BECAUSE SHUFFLE IS AN EVIL, EVIL THING. iwontfade March 17 2011, 21:35:50 UTC
"Do you even hear yourself?" Because this doesn't sound like Sora at all and now he's worried that it might be too late. He has proof of what he's saying, but if Sora won't let him tell him the truth... This was going to get ugly.

"I'm not leaving. Not until you hear me out." He stands his ground, hand itching to activate the bit of metal on his arm. He'd have to go on defense this time, but... "Don't you want to know what happened to your real parents?!"

Sora's eyes narrow further. That line into dangerous territory? Crossed. In seconds, that dark suit is clinging to his form. The Keyblade is clutched tightly in his hand, and he's pretty sure he'd be bleeding if said blade weren't in his hand to prevent his nails from digging into his palm. But instead, he'll content himself with drawing himself into a fighting stance. All emotion falls away from his face.

"...They abandoned me. That's all there is to it."

And he activates the armor his teacher gave him the moment Sora does it, focusing on the power between that will and his own as his eyes burn into Sora's hatred-filled blue through the glass. Give me the strength to protect the things the matter...

He moves into his own fighting stance, holding up that wooden toy sword. If nothing else, he could still channel magic through it. "No, they didn't. Ansem took them from you."

The armor is a surprise. But Sora doesn't let it bother him. Instead, he seems to vanish into a dark portal... Only to suddenly come blasting out right in front of him, aiming a diagonal slash upwards across his torso. He doesn't care what he says. This isn't... It's not the truth! And he refuses to believe it.

You who I called brother, why must you call down another go? iwontfade March 17 2011, 23:38:49 UTC
Riku looks around, nervous by that little fact. But his teacher was fast; he expected something like this because of what Sora's done so far, and he hates it. It doesn't mean that he's above fighting dirty, though.

He jumps back, holding the wooden sword behind him as he focuses. The papers scatter across the floor. "Sora, I don't want to fight you. Listen for once in your life!"

Sora doesn't listen. Instead, he twists around, turning a full 360 degrees before aiming another slash downward toward him. If he has the chance, he'll pummel Riku into a wall.

That did it. He winced, taking the hit before casting a blast of retaliatory Fira spell. He's not going down without a fight.

Sora lets out a yelp, skidding back until he falls on his rear. Damn... He'd forgotten about magic. He grits his teeth, before darting forward and raising his Keyblade. However... Something catches his eye in the middle of his attacking and he pauses. He frowns and drops the fighting, kneeling down to take up the piece of paper. It has his name on it... Wait...

He begins to read. And what he reads... He doesn't want to believe.

Riku just stands there for a moment, waiting. He makes no movements as he watches Sora read the reports he'd collected across the worlds; a couple given to him by a certain witch who seemed rather pleased to mess with Ansem's plans. But... what was the motivation?

It didn't matter; what matters is how Sora would respond to the words on those pages. "...I found them, both among the worlds and the Heartless. Just like I found your parents..."

At this he looks down, shaking his head as the wooden sword drops to the ground before he removes his helmet.

No. No. This isn't true. The words on this paper... They have to be lies. The detailing of how he literally dissected the two people Sora called parents once upon a time can't be right. And yet, the details are what makes it hard to deny. He shakes his head, dropping the paper like it's on fire before backing up. Everything... It shattering. It doesn't make sense. Why...!?

"It's a lie! It has to be! Dad wouldn't-- He hasn't--!"

...But has he? So many doubts. He shakes his head, summoning the Keyblade to hand again before he charges forward. There's fear in his eyes. He's afraid. Very afraid. Nothing makes sense anymore. Why...?

Riku only watches as Sora does so, waiting for the opportune moment and once it arrives...

He easily side steps the blind fear-driven boy, smacking a fist into his back. Even weaponless, that suit of armor had taught him hand-to-hand combat with an armed assailant. "I found them dead, Sora. In your kitchen. It wasn't--" I let you down... and now here I am, doing it again.

He ends up falling face-first to the ground. No... No! He clings tightly to his shattering beliefs, pushing himself up on hands and knees. The Keyblade has clattered a few steps away, but he doesn't call it. Instead, he simply stays like this.

"...How...? How can you fight like this...? How can you still be so strong!? I took everything from you!"

Riku looks down at his friend, shaking his head. No matter how much time passed, the elder still hated seeing the younger suffer, but... he had no choice. "You want to know how?" He takes one step to the side, disappointed. Sora... You used to be so bright. The sunlight he reflected...

"You can take my home, take away the Keyblade... I don't need it if I still have my friends. Even when we're far apart; separated..." The Keyblade suddenly vanishes from where it lay, flashing into his hand once again to his surprise.

"I will protect the ones I care about." And that includes the idiot on the floor in front of him, whether he accepts it or not.

Sora's eyes go wide as that Keyblade appears in Riku's hand. He quickly tries to call it back, but... Nothing. There's no response from the key. He stands up, taking a few steps back, and then... He turns and takes off, quickly taking off up the stairs. Nothing makes sense anymore.

He has to find Dad.
