It appears that I chose to read this fanfic at an opportune time, as the epilogue was posted just a short few months ago. The thing is- it doesn't matter (well, I mean, I'm glad to have had the ability to read it all over the course of a few days, but besides that...) because even if I had been there at the beginning, I would have made my way back to this final point. Your fic is that good.
I'm into homestuck (irrelevant) & there had been a similarly long ass beautiful story that wasn't finished until years after it's first posted chapter, but I stayed with it because it was like a TV show and I was just waiting for the next episode to be released! This fanfic felt like that. It was like a movie playing in my head. Absolutely a m a z i n g. And for you to have had the both the willpower & the motivation to continue this story over the span of 6 years (while dealing with illness no less !?) is very admirable!
Ugh, this is sooo good. I could honestly imagine this as being an official Star Trek movie addition because you were so on point with your writing! The references to TOS and to the newer movies all fit so snugly and comfortably within the context of your plot line! I can't praise this fic enough, honestly. I'm not even a regular commenter on fanfictions... (pfft I never comment on anything ever, I just give kudos/a like/whatever and bookmark it or move on) However, this deserves a shit ton of exuberant praise (which, in my case, apparently requires the repeated use of common swears) I actually made a new account (forgot the password both my old username & to my old email address, meaning that even if I sent a "forgot password" email to myself, I wouldn't be able to log into the email account to see it) just so that I could comment on how wonderful this is !!
Your writing style connects with the reader soo well! The switchings between the POV's were perfectly timed/executed. You also gave the characters an original depth, which made young Spock & James all the more believable!
There's so much I love about this story that I feel like I could go on forever. This is my favorite fanfiction piece. It presides over any other Star Trek fanwork I've read. In my mind, it's on par with the 2009 & 2013 movies !
Yeah... I'm sorry, this ended up being more lengthy than intended... But thank you for writing this work and for pushing through to bitter end. Thank You.

Hi
so sorry my reply is so late but I've had a terrible past 2 wks can I just say - You're welcome and THANK you as well for the amazing comment
Reading it gives me warm fuzzies and makes me smile (and that's a huge deal since I've been in almost constant chronic pain for weeks) So thanks for taking the effort to drop me a note (I totally get you when you say you just kudos and don't comment lol) and I'm completely chuffed you think this fits right in with the movies - totally what I was going for - and that you enjoyed the heck out of it because that's what it's there for
