So the cinema said there was a surprise mystery screening of an unreleased Hollywood blockbuster and we were just gonna have to buy the tickets and show up and there was basically no clues besides that
However the cinema had to reveal that the movie was 135 min long. I straight away thought - omg they're showing Star Trek reboot 2 cos dude, no other major film for the next month is listed as having an official run time of 135 minutes
I went
of course I did
Despite being unwell over the weekend and dragging myself to work on Monday, I went anyway
AND lo behold - Star Trek Into Darkness began to play
I am a weird mess of high and exhausted right now. I can't believe I just saw it. It's not out until Thursday here in Oz and I've seen it
Besides Mr. BBC Sherlock, there was also another familiar face from Doctor Who playing a minor role - surprised me, and did for one second make me go, err, isn't that...??
Having now seen the second reboot film, I believe this and the first are a matched set. Considering the short in-verse time gap between them (about 6months from the end of the first film and the beginning of Into Darkness) that makes sense
OKAY not gonna say more
I am not gonna spoil anything but its a fast movie
You must pay attention or you'll miss stuff - this film needs repeat viewing, it's just a very busy film, lots of dialogue lots of action. Some great character interactions and just wow, seeing a lot more of TOS dynamics coming out
Except for one instance of OCCness (IMO) the characters were great - amazing body language acting and great comedic timing by everyone even when they're doing gallows humour during serious situations
I need to see it again if only to catch all the dialogue
but next time I think I'll do IMAX
I think I'll stick to the back of the theatre next time
The shots were quite dynamic and I got a headache from so much stimulation
Sorry if anyone thinks this entry is spoiler-y
I have avoided specifics though
