USS Enterprise, Sickbay, year 2246

Spock woke up slowly, coming to consciousness in the dim night illumination of sickbay. His head ached terribly; it felt like someone was sitting on his chest, and his hands hurt. He tried to get up but found that he barely had the strength to lift his head. Trying to roll onto his side made him gasp for air, and a ( Read more... )

Thank you for your detailed review. Regarding the discussion between Spocket and Sarek over his 'predicament' I think he'll carry it off with aplomb, and since Vulcans have such a respect for friendship and the bonded pair, I doubt Sarek will make a fuss... I dunno, should he? lol
Re Winona and Jim - they both strike me as avoidant when it comes to family and personal matters. Yeah, so we saw cool broken Winona earlier, saw a hint of her gutsiness when she confronted them at the diner but this is the full shebang. I think she'll be very challenged by the bond.
Re Sarek, he was a bit of an ass in TOS - I'm thought in the movie, he was a far more genteel Sarek, esp with that whole 'only you can choose the path you shall take'
Combine that with Spock's kidnapping/possible death, yeah I think he'll be a pretty different guy to TOS!Sarek
I'm not quite sure that the Enterprise will reveal something like that - while there is no predestination paradox at play here by the rules used for time travel in the Movie that I'm going with, I just think it's not... very Temporal Prime Directive. The kids, what they say, I think there's more of a likelihood of giving stuff away from them.

Huh, I like the idea of a Sarek who is grateful his son is alive, and magnanimous about the bond he formed to a boy who is his T'hyla, especially if the healer points it out 'the t'hyla thing,' grins. You're right Sarek in the movie is a lot more genteel, but he's still a bit of a berk because of the whole I 'married your mother because it was logical' he gave a very young, and vulnerable Spock, when he really needed 'I married your mother because I have great affection for her,' in other words, vulcan for 'I love her'. That was cowardly, and a bit manipulative. He gave the illusion of leaving the decision of what path to follow up to Spock, and then loaded the dice with every trick he had up his sleeve, sighs, not that that isn't what most parents do.. but well.. there is Tos Sarek, and his track record sucks.

Huh, you're probably right in that the Enterprise crew will be trying to follow the Prime Time Travel directive, but just think all those vulcans won't be able to resist asking questions formally, or informally, and there are hundreds of crew members who know different things, and think different things are discreet, so when all those logical, persistent vulcans sit down, and collate the information they've gathered, hisses, rude shocks there, and probably a lot more than either the Enterprise crew, the Time Prime Directive would wish. I hate to disagree with you but with Parents, and personal crisis, when will the children get a chance to say anything? Especially if Winona decides to be a Mama Bear about the whole mess. Can you imagine the look on her face if someone asks to interview her injured, newly bonded child? Hahahahahahahahahah, yeah, even a vulcan is taking their life in their hands.

Also it would be a very powerful scene if Winona confronts an adult Jim, when she figures out that they are not close in his reality and demands to know why. Jim stumbles out mention of Tarsus. Poor Winona just keeps getting the shocks, Jim mumbles about pushing her away. Winona goes on a rant about what an idiot she is, and for Jim to say exactly this... ' a specific meaningful line' to his mother when he see her again. So that version of Winona will know that Jim still needs her, and doesn't really blame her, and that she needs to get her head out of her a**. Maybe a line her own mother would say to her, that Jim wouldn't know. Shrugs, it's an idea, grins, I couldn't resist sharing, wicked grin, okay, I'll stop now. I don't want to hurt your brain, laughs, especially since I don't want to interrupt your awesome writing. Tallyho, and good luck. -SB
