Apostrophes. P.S. I am a bitch.

Attn: humans of the internet. It has come to my attention that many people do not know how to use apostrophes. Especially with regard to the third person inanimate possessive pronoun.

You seem to have an excess of commas, there. I've been told that a final punctuation mark, like an exclamation point or question mark, is final. Like so:

Bad: "It's such a nice day, Sam!," said Dean.

Good: "It's such a nice day, Sam!" said Dean.

I couldn't decide with that one. I think it's a stylistic choice. I've seen it both ways.

I've seen it both ways, too, and I'm sure it is a stylistic choice, but it's a more archaic style and is never used in published prose. Copy editors correct that sort of thing, Anna says, and she was a copy editor so I trust her knowledge. (I've seen it used mostly in academic writing. Personally, I don't like it. It looks ugly and clunky and amateurish.)

HA that may be why it seemed like the way to go to me. Academic writing and fanfic are all I read these days.

What happened to the days when I read novels? *mourns*

I figured that was why. I haven't seen it myself since I was in school, and that was 174209375947263 years ago.

READ MOAR NOVELS! They're like fics, but portable!
