WTF? - Profanity in the Movies

Jul 18, 2010 12:00

Here's something tangentially related to my post from last week:  I just happened across an interesting article from Moviehole concerning the use of profanity in the movies.

The article contains a list of ten films in which the use of foul language actually contributes to the story.  It's a great list in my opinion, containing some very good movies.  I'd particularly recommend Glengarry Glen Ross, In Bruges, Pulp Fiction, and the incredible Nil By Mouth (in which the word "fuck" or a variation thereof is used 522 times -- that's an average of 4.25 times per minute -- a record for a non-documentary feature film).  I've not seen In The Loop, but I heard it was great. If anyone has seen it, let me know what you thought of it...I may try to watch it sometime soon.
