Early Literary Efforts Part Four

Aug 22, 2006 18:20

There is no snazzy "About the Author" page in this one and I had clearly learned about Roman Numerals here because it says "Year Made--MCMLXXXIV" on the title page, so...1984? I moved in fifth grade when I was 10, so this had to have been done in the second half of fourth grade when I was 9 years old. It is heavy on text. ;)Once again, no spelling, grammar, punctuation changes have been made from the original...and might I just say that it is very difficult to type so many punctuation errors...

The Time Travelers

"Hey, look at this!", Roselynn exclaimed. I walked over to the chair. "Look at what?", I asked her. She pointed to an article in the newspaper. "A contest.", she said, "The person (or people) that write the best poem win a trip to Disneyland! Let's enter! Iam, do you want to?" Sure.", I said. We read the article carefully. Then we sat down and wrote the poem. "I have to leave at 4:30," she said sadly, "I wish I could stay. We finished the poem by 4:00. "Maybe you can spend the night!", I said happily. "Ask!", she said. I did. I went to the kitchen and called my mom. "Mom, may Roselynn spend the night?", I asked her. "Well, it's okay with me if its okay with her mom.", she said. I hung up. "Yay!", I yelled happily, "Call your mom." I went to the livingroom and waited. In five minutes she came running in. "I can!", she said.

We read the poem over, then corrected our mistakes. Next month we would see who won. "Well, today is February 3rd so on March 3rd be sure to read the paper.", Roselynn said.

"Well, today is March 3rd. Let's get the paper.", I said excitedly. She grabbed the newspaper, sat down, and read silently for a few minutes. She looked up at me with a big smile on her face and said, "We won!" "Yay!", we both said happily and laughed and jumped up and down. We had to call our mothers. We dashed to the telephone. I got there first. We told our mothers and they said to go pack. I asked my mother if I could bring my dog, Rover, but she said no. In one hour we were ready. "Yay, tomorrow we will go to Disneyland!!", Roselynn said half laughing, half talking and dancing. She spending the night here. We stayed up half the night. Finally I yawned and fell asleep. She did also.

We woke up at 10:00. We are going to Disneyland in a bus. I have never been to Disneyland. Roselynn has. When she had got back she had said it was fun. She said we should go on this ride that takes you all over Disneyland, so we are. She wasn't sure what it was called so we just called it The Ride. We got up. "Let's go eat breakfast.", I said. We went to the kitchen. My mom was making pancakes. When she finished making them, we ate them. "Delicious.", said Roselynn. "Don't talk with your mouth full.", my mom said. We laughed. We lived in Los Angeles so it wasn't very far to Disneyland. Our moms didn't have to take us. A horn beaped outside. The bus was here! It was time to leave! It was 12:00.

We decided to leave "The Ride" for the 5th ride. We went through Snow White's Castle. We went on the train ride. We went on the Dumbo Ride. I got to steer. We went on the Peter Pan ride. "That's four rides!", I exclaimed. We got in line. When it was our turn we got into something that looked like a car. It started going. Every once in a while it stopped so we could look at things. We didn't have seat belts. As we were going over the Alice in Wonderland section, the car jerked to a stop. We went flying out. "Help!", we screamed. No one must have heard us because the next thing we knew it was almost black. Bump! We had stopped falling! We figured we were on regular ground so we got up and looked around. It certainly wasn't dark. In fact it was quite light. "This definitely isn't Earth, or is it?", I asked her. She didn't answer. She must not have heard me. "Roselynn!", I yelled. "Oh! No, I don't think it is Earth. We are probably dreaming.", she said. "Well if we are, I don't ever want to wake up!", I said. "I don't either!", she said funnily. We pinched ourselves to see if we were awake. It hurt. We were awake.

It was light now so we could see everything. It was probably day. It was beautiful! When we looked around us again we saw asign that was not there before. It read Welcome to Fairyland.

"Fairyland!", Roselynn exclaimed. "Yep!", said a voice seeming to come from nowhere. We looked around again. We saw trees with gumdrops, different shaped mushrooms, fairly big rosebuds with holes that looked like windows, unicorns, and other strange animals. Some had wings, some had horns, and some even had both. Then we started running. We saw a waterfall with a rainbow coming out of it!

When we got there we stepped in the water. We started feeling starnge. Then the strange feeling stopped. We looked around. We weren't in the water anymore. We looked in the water. We had shrunk! We were only about 7 inches high! Mushrooms and rosebuds were taller than we were! They were about 10 inches high! We went over to one of the mushrooms that was an upside down heart shaped one. There seemed to be a door on it. Roselynn went up to it and knocked. Someone that had wings answered! It was a fairy! It was a female one. "What do you want?", she asked us. She sounded quite young. "Oh! Nothing.", I answered quite nervously. "What are your names? My name is Sabrina.", she said. "My name is Jennifer and this is Roselynn.", I said pointing to Roselynn. "Come in.", she said. We talked for about an hour. It was 5:00 when we started to leave. "Where do you live?", she asked us. "We don't live anywhere.", we answered her. She asked us to stay there. We did. She asked us how old we were. "We are both 12.", we said. She told us that once you are 10, you are considered a grown-up. We stayed there about two weeks. The fairies are very good housekeepers we found out. We were only supposed to stay in Disneyland a week.

(and a close-up--lol)

One day we had asked Sabrina if she knew how we had got down here. She had answered that we fell down the rabbit hole in the Alice in Wonderland section. Sabrina is 55 but she looks like she is 25. She has blonde hair, turquoise eyes, fingernails that seemed an inch long, and beautiful dresses. She has 5 grown-up girls and 5 grown-up boys. The girls names' are Debbie, Margaret, Cya, Misty, and Kristi. The boys names' are Matt, Chad, Robert, Brian, and Chris.

I have met Margaret and Debbie. Margaret likes people to call her Margie so I do. I woke this morning and decided to take a walk. Roselynn decided to come too. We had completely forgotten how small we were. Sabrina had told us that the king usually has more than one wife but we didn't care. She had bought us new clothes when we went to Fairyland Mall. We liked them. When we were walking we saw something that looked like a stagecoach. We stopped and looked. Next we were floating through the air by some magical power. Then we were in the stagecoach. The fairies in the stagecoach told us that I was to marry the king and Roselynn was to be my maid. Roselynn didn't think that was fair but I had a plan. I told it to her. She agreed on it.

On March 25th I got married to the king. Just as I tought, the ring was magical. I asked him what the ring could do. He said that the ring could take you anywhere. You just say the place you want to go to and you will be there. "I would like to take a walk with Roselynn.", I said. "Okay.", the king said. I got her and we ran to the waterfall with the rainbow coming out of it. We jumped in. We started feeling strange. Then it stopped. We were our normal hights. "Good! The ring still fits!", I exclaimed. We decided to go to Mars first. So we did. We found out that there is life on Mars! After that we went home. Next we went back to Disneyland to visit Sabrina. We went all over the place. We go somehwere and come home. When we came back from Mars our mothers asked, "What took you so long?" We told them the whole story. They had it put on the news. We became famous! From then on we were called--The Time Travelers! We became rich and lived very, very happily.
