FUCKYEAHHH ANIME NORTH 2011!!
photobucket album (public)
facebook album (f- locked, friend me to see!)
.;.;.;.
We had planned this out almost 5 months ahead of time.
losseflame chose the young versions of Legendary Sannin from Naruto. (because none of us possess the tits to properly cosplay Tsunade.) We didn’t start working seriously until 2 weeks before. I’m going to pass my Geography final with a straight 60 and I’m skipping school because I’m so tired from the past weekend. It was so completely worth it.
Every drop of blood;
Every tear cried;
Every broken needle;
Every test failed;
Every class skipped;
Every glue-gun induced injury;
Every hour of sleep lost;
Every last penny;
Anime North was worth it all. :)

Yollis and I decided to pass up on Friday, specifically because she had 2 essays to write and I had a final project to finish. She slept over and we made some final adjustments to our costumes. Sleeping at midnight when we had to wake up at 6 am was not a good choice. Yollis didn’t even sleep!
However, Saturaday still turned out to be a major success. Waking up, having Israeli breakfast (or, my attempt at a half-assed version) and spending 2 hours doing makeup (white face and body paint for Yollis; poor darling) before hastily packing up all went by in a blur. I was still recovering from a particularly persistent cold and was reduced to having 2 doses of Buckley’s before leaving. That shit tastes so horrid, there are no words for it, but it really does work. Yollis is a complete asshole for saying “Y’know, there’s a rumor that Buckley’s is really horse pee” while I’m trying to force it down. >:( I painted her nails in the car while attempting to blink away a speck of dust on my contact. ^^;
We arrived at around 10:30 am. The ticket line stretched from the parking lot all the way to the road before curving around. The length seemed to reach over 200 meters. Just waiting to buy our tickets felt like an eternity, but it was strangely satisfying to have people ask for our picture even when we weren’t fully made up.
flash check! :)
For the rest of the day, whether we we’re walking around outside, browsing the dealer’s room, chilling at the Doubletree Hotel or even crossing the street, it seemed like everyone wanted a picture of us. :) It’s always dskl;jdfhdl;kdfksl;d AMAZING to know that we did a good enough job for others to want pictures of us.
LOOLOLOL, Yollis cosplayed Orochimaru and made it her duty to pedo every small child/sasuke cosplay she saw. Gratuitous pictures here:
As a proud pervy sage, I got lots of pictures of me with an older version of myself. :)
Speaking of which, this was the only year where we actually got more than 1 or 2 pictures of ourselves! Thank god, we worked so hard, DDDD:
We met up with many of my friends, including someone we hadn’t seen in far too long. James, it was great seeing you, you should’ve cosplayed!!
Coming back home, Micaela was already in my room, folding my laundry like the fantastic wife she is. Unfortunately, she couldn’t go on Saturday due to dance competition (her dance company won 3rd overall!) but she did come on Sunday! Loreta came in the morning all dressed up in her maid outfit and we repeated the 2 hour process of putting on pounds of makeup.
We spent way too much time in the dealer’s room looking for last minute deals and cowering from the possibility of rain. WE WERE SO FUCKING LUCKY. Weather reports stated that it should’ve rained the entire weekend. IT DIDN’T.
It only started raining after we got back home, BOOYAH. 8D
We saw cosplay veterans and people we’ve befriended at conventions. There was lots of glomping involved~ ♥
I can’t believe my camera started malfunctioning. It can still take pictures, but because I’ve dropped it so much, the memory card and battery pops out if it’s disturbed. Sudden movements make it spazz like a hummingbird on crack and coffee and that made me miss some really great pictures. :(
And to add to our long list of blessings, a photographer came up to us and offered to do a studio shoot. BECAUSE HE THOUGHT WE WERE GOOD klsjdfkl;hgkk;slaj. C:
Totally made my day. ♥
I bought an armor ring (as seen in NANA) a few keychains and a print of hide.
losseflame and I went to the last panel of the con WTF LOL moments of Jrock and that was a very relaxing, funny way to end the day. There was plenty of Miyavi’s ADD, Gunji (the Fool) doing random shit, the BEST MOMENTS EVER courtesy of Girugamesh and this is a pen. If you’ve never seen it, click the
here now. You won’t regret it (hopefully. However, do mentally prepare yourself.)
A 9-tails naruto cosplayer came up to us and asked to have a picture. She took one with us as well. She was very obviously foreign and going by the way she accented her syllables and how she bowed slightly with every ‘sankyuu beri muchu’ we assumed she was Japanese. We saw her again when we left the marketplace and she came up to us to thank us again and told us that it was here dream to see the young sannin cosplayed well and that it was her favorite trio. She even said she was almost cried! It was asjkdakl.;bjf; SO CUTE. She was so freaking adorable, I wanted to squish her soooo bad! I can’t believe our random, somewhat obscure (unless you’re a die-hard naruto fan) made someone so happy!

Intresting things
Every year seems to have its quirks. On average, Anime North reels in about 13000 people. This year, an estimated 17000 people attended. Next year, they might have to cap the attendance, but only if the attendees exceed 18000. You would expect that with each year, new cosplays of new animes/mangas/games would be seen, but actually, the opposite happens! There were so many retro cosplays; I loved it! There was more Sailor Moon, Inuyasha, Silent Hill, Pokemon and Dragon Ball cosplays this year than any other I’ve been to! There was a Ruronin Kenshin cosplayer (she earned herself a flailing fangirl jiraiya) Ranma, Shampoo and Ryoga (FLAIL) as well as Yu-Gi-Oh! and street fighter. I swear, I could’ve cried of happiness when I saw a Silent Hill nurse, Pyramid Head and James Sunderland. And the plethora of Dantes walking around were squeal-worthy. <3 there weren’t as many Death Note cosplays and the amount of random people with Akatsuki capes walking around still stayed at staggeringly high numbers.
I walked around in homemade
getas the entire weekend and by the end, I had blisters and rope burn, but NO1CURR LALALALA
.;.;.;.
Anyway, if you went to anime north, I hope you had fun! I know I did, and on the behalf of Yollis, Micaela and me, thank you all so much for an unforgettable weekend. If you have pictures of us, please post them! You may see all our pictures on photobucket. We love you. ♥ Friend me on DeviantArt, tumblr or Facebook for cosplay updates and random ramblings. Just comment somewhere or tell me who you are and I will most definitely add you. C:
