for I'm Kind of a Big Deal at theiconthrone

The point of the challenge was to make icons that represent me, so I pulled 20 of the things that I think are most -me- or that someone might see and go: "Yup, that's her." Some are a mix of a thing and a technical, like cropping or negative space or simplicity.. even some stock. Not to mention a particular filter I ( Read more... )

Hijack away, baby!

First question would be how many teams are you looking at?

I'd be first in line for Team Riker or Team Excelsior Team KHAAAAAAAN (it's 15 characters *nods*), mind you.. but, in my experience on the Stargate landcomm side, having teams named for different series put one team as a super disadvantage because no one liked that show, and 90% of the members wanted to be on the other team because it was the show they liked/watched/was airing (thereby leaving the third team to just -be-). Things got a little ugly and the teams were reformed by job description, which did help (science, military, aliens), but the comm never really recovered from the initial problems. So, going by captain names could -possibly- cause some pre-tension. Ships or races could, potentially, have the same effect... but, please know that I'm purposefully being the negative nelly on this one, for the sake of someone's going to bring it up later, therefore might as well have a prepared answer! :D

Perhaps it would be safer (and I ran it by Biz, first, to make sure I say what I mean instead of word-urping) to go with off-names (Team Cochrane and Team Singh, etc) if you want to go that way ; or maybe departments (Engineering, Medical, Command) <-- assuming that's what you meant by tracks of service? Or some other generic terms that fit all the series (Team Nacelle and Team Saucer Section would work for TNG, but not for DS9, etc)

That said: by now everyone in landcomm land are adults mostly and should be able to behave accordingly. Personally, I would avoid Captain names and ship/station names... also probably avoid Team Romulan and Team Borg or Team Original and Team Reboot as options, entirely. ;)

In the end, of course, it's your call. ♥ /excited

It's the team names I always get hung up on. I'll think/sleep on it and bounce what I come up with off you later.

(and thanks for your help and input, btw, and sorry my tired brain forgot to say that the first time around)
