When Hilary Booth was much younger - but not that young, of course - one of her favorite stories was that of Miss Sara Crewe. The little girl was her hero, if Hilary had known at that age what a hero was. They had so much in common, and Hilary always imagined many adventures for herself and her dolls, just as Sara had.
She was convinced her own father was off on some adventure in India, which would explain why he wasn't there, in Maine. London would be far more exotic, she thought.
One day, London would see Hilary Booth.
