Spinoff: SHIELD 42
for the Spin Off challenge at avland

SHIELD 42 is a spin-off of both Captain America: The First Avenger and the Marvel Short, Agent Carter. Taking place after the events of both, SHIELD 42 follows SHIELD in its' earliest stages. SHIELD is being run by Agent Peggy Carter (Hayley Atwell), Howard Stark (Dominic Cooper), and Dum Dum Dugan (Neal McDonough). While the three of them have come together to honor Steve Rogers and Doctor Erskine, and the ethics they believed in, the three of them also understand the world they live in. What is going to help them fight HYDRA and win the war is working with those who are sympathetic and caught in a war they didn't want.
With the help of a high-ranking German official - who has his own reasons for cooperating with SHIELD - the team just might make some headway in winning this fight.
Wilhelm 'Willy' Behr [played by William Petersen]
Wilhelm Behr (played by William Petersen) is a German soldier who finds himself walking a fine line between loyalty and spying. After the fall of HYDRA, Wilhelm is asked to investigate the SHIELD threat in Germany's backyard, but finds that everything he thought he knew might just be nothing he wants a part of. He can see where Germany is headed in this war, and with a secret he's desperate to keep hidden, Wilhelm makes a deal with the SHIELD agents he's supposed to be reporting on; a deal that will get his beloved wife and daughter out of Germany and to the safety of the United States. Wilhelm's wife, who calls him ‘Willy', is not happy about this deal he's made, because she doesn't want to leave her husband. Wilhelm and Dugan don't get along, because neither trusts the other, but they will have to learn to work together if SHIELD will survive.
Helene 'Leni' Behr [played by Marg Helgenberger]
Helene Behr (played by Marg Helgenberger) has always been a proper military wife. However, she also has a deep secret that, if discovered, will not only risk her own life, but that of her husband and their daughter, Marit. While she's being shuffled around SHIELD, waiting for safe passage back to the United States, Helene finds herself with only Agent Carter to talk to, most days, and the two form an odd friendship, each enjoying having another woman to talk to. As long as she is stuck with SHIELD, Helene can be close to her husband, but it's a concern for her daughter's strange behavior that has the woman worried for all of them. On top of that, Helene (called Leni by her husband) can see that Howard Stark and Marit seem to be spending more and more time together, and isn't sure how Wilhelm will take it, when he finds out.
Marit 'Maria' Behr [played by Amy Adams]
Marit 'Maria' Behr (played by Amy Adams) is the only daughter of Wilhelm and Helene Behr. Never married, Marit has always been a military child, following in her father's footsteps and gaining a fairly respectable position in the German forces. There are lot of things Marit doesn't tell her parents about her work, though not always because of regulations. Generally, she likes what she does, and is very good at her job. However, Marit's current assignment is one she would much rather not be a part of. Unfortunately, as the lives of her parents - and, her own, by extension - depend on her cooperation, Marit complies with her superior officer. Being told that she and her mother are going to be spirited out of the country by Americans doesn't make her task any easier... especially when she's trying to ignore an annoying American inventor named Howard Stark; a man who refuses to pronounce her name properly (which he's doing simply to get a reaction from her. It works every time.)
Mathias Gehring [played by Ciaran Hinds]
Mathias Gehring (played by Ciaran Hinds) is Marit Behr's superior officer. He has known Marit's father, Wilhelm, for a very long time, and suspects that his ‘old friend' is no longer as loyal to Germany as he once was. Mathias also knows the deep, dark secret the Behrs are hiding, and uses it to blackmail Marit into aiding his personal pursuits. Mathias is in all the right circles and knows all the right people, which means that while everyone he meets respects and admires him, trying to go against his commands will only bring lots of pain and a very public defeat. He knows just which buttons to push and simply smiles when it is implied that his tactics might not always be on the up-and-up. As things become more and more complicated, his grip on Marit only gets tighter and tighter, and Mathias may find his next dinner party cut short by SHIELD.
Gerda Wegner [played by Shirley Henderson]
Gerda Wegner (played by Shirley Henderson) is the secretary attached to Mathias Gehring. She is German, through and through, and loyal to whomever is currently in power, as it brings her favor. She has never liked Marit, and is all too willing to report every step out of place the younger woman makes. Gerda is never afraid to remind Marit just who she is working for, not to mention what happens to those who go against the will of Germany. She doesn't know what Mahias is holding over Marit, but that doesn't stop Gerda from trying to find out. Anything she can use as leverage to raise herself in German society is fair game, and she really doesn't care who she might hurt on her rise to the top. Unfortunately, in her search for Behr family secret, she will step on the wrong toes and find herself backed into a corner she may not get out of.
