Good chapter, very nice progression of the story, but that is hardly a surprise :) I think I've already said it, but the pace you set for the story is very good, actually the slower present and faster flashbacks balance each other perfectly.
You kind of threw me off track again, i expected Reita to be more worried and show more emotion. Seeing only Kai fretting around and Reita just doing his job made rethink is this going to be ReitaxRuki or not. But Kai's worry as a Chief was right how you would want it to be I think. Oh, but I am not sure if Kai should be described as small? I mean compared The only person in Gazette taller than him is Uruha.
The bar scene had a good atmosphere, believable, both in companionship of others and Ruki still just observing and only beginning to fit in with the rest of them. Moody scarred Reita is very interesting. Even more when he gets angry. And yay, Saga! What a bastard probably, needs to have his ass kicked but I am happy I got it was him in the previous chapter. Oh, and I enjoyed Boa's character in this one! :)

And duly noted, as also told by many friends, throwing people off track and teasing them is a habbit of mine in my writings.... But that is a good thing, no?
