Hi! I'm new here but not to the DCU. While reading some old Silver Age Legion comics, I've completely fallen in love with Brainy and Kara. Thanks so much for posting this! Somehow I skipped this when the October solicits came out in July. :)
I'm definitely excited to read this Annual but at the same time there are a few things that bother me (though I realize I'm just being picky). First is the fact that this Brainy (supposedly the SA version) is much older than Kara, who is still 17, I guess. And second... I've been reading a lot of SA comics to really learn that SA Supergirl is so different from today's Supergirl that it's very hard to swallow our current Supergirl is supposed to be her. And that makes me wonder if this Brainiac has memories of Supergirl before she died in COIE. Probably not. :(
I wish he did. I don't know how long they've been together in the Silver Age but it probably wasn't long enough. And it seems like a disservice to the SA Supergirl that she was replaced with this Kara (no offense to any current Kara fans, I love her as much as the next one, honest), and she's probably his love interest now. (I don't remember how their relationship went in Supergirl & LOSH; it's been a few years since I read that series.)
And I'm a bit confused by how current Supergirl feels about Brainy, and I hope it's made clear in this Annual. I do understand the basics of LOSH, that there are three versions of them (though I personally consider the present Legion the fourth version): 1) SA Legion (including 5 years later), 2) Post Zero Hour Legion, 3) Waid's Threeboot Legion, and now today's pre-COIE/post-IC/SA Legion.
I'm also confused with what DC's going to do with the fact that Supergirl already met Brainy from the Supergirl/LOSH series and how that relates to this issue. (Is that Brainy - Waid's Threeboot version, as I understand it - even being used anymore?) I guess I'll just have to wait and see. :)
Really, I'd much rather have DC bring back Silver Age Kara so Brainy can have his proper Supergirl back in his arms but that's a rant for another day... ;)
