Her period was four days late. She hadn't been worried at first. It wasn't completely unnatural for her cycle to be off a little bit once in a while. She didn't see any reason to be concerned. That was back on Day One. Day Two passed and she hardly thought about it, being too busy coordinating another plan of attack on government interests with Sophie. By late evening of Day Three, she was beginning to dwell on the matter. It didn't occur to her right away what it might mean. After all, they used protection, in the form of the Pill. Of course, there could have been days where she'd forgotten, right? In the heat of the moment, lack of sufficient time on certain days and pumping adrenaline could have made them careless. And now, on the morning of Day Four, she was standing in front of the bathroom sink, door locked firmly behind her (not that it would do anything). Luckily, Gabriel wasn't home at the moment. He had gone out early for something and Bea had some time to herself. Peeing on a stick hadn't been fun, but it had been done. The test results were lying on the toilet seat. She chuckled to herself, shaking her head. Look at me, I'm being ridiculous. I run through gunfire almost everyday and I'm afraid to look at one little pregnancy test. God, imagine though... Me, a mom? She heard the front door open in the distance. That must be Gabriel. She had to look, it was now or never.
Taking a deep breath, she took the two steps toward the test and picked the little piece of plastic up. Her eyes were closed for the moment. Come on, you can do this. It's not so hard. She opened them. It was a positive. A little bluish-green plus sign was reflecting up at her. With a soft gasp, she sat down hard on the toilet cover. She was pregnant. She was going to have a baby...
