Jimmy sat on his motorcycle, parked in front of the curb of the freshly buildt hospital. He had grown used to the sight of cracked foundations and broken glass, to see a building smooth, clean, and untouched while everything around it was covered in rusted scaffolding and construction vehicles.

He was on his third cigarette that day, it was a wonder and disappointment that his lungs were still working as they should. The underside of his jaw still throbbed from were Jamie's fist slammed into him; from the way his head jerked from the impact he knew that he strained something in his neck. On top of the injuries he walked away with the night before, Jimmy could still say he was in good shape. It's only pain.

She made her way through ashen faces of men and women going to work or coming from work or just plain and simple trying to survive. She knew she stood out, she did it on purpose.

"I didn't call," she observed uneasily, taking in the sight of his reddened jaw. "Do I want to know?" It wasn't like she wasn't used to him getting hurt, but she preferred it when it happened on the job. She doubted he'd gotten called in this morning, without a partner.

Jimmy shook his head, biting back a curse as pain shot down his spine. Definately a sprain. "Doubt it. Went to the harbor." he stated, rolling his head slowly in attempt to gauge his range of movement. Glancing over at Candice, he tried to drum up a fascimilie of a smile. He didn't buy it, but maybe one of these days she would. "How're feeling?"

She caught his jaw in her hand, held it lightly. It was a little swollen, but he'd had worse. That in itself was a sign of how much things had changed between them since the bomb.

"Great," she lied, safely hidden behind her sunglasses, behind her 'talent'. A beat and then: "Was it one of the rogues?"

"No." Jimmy held her gaze, smirking. Best to make light of the situation. "The usual 'norm' opposition."
