The intercom was shot to hell. She didn't bother with it, not when the door was left ajar for lack of a proper lock. It felt strange to say she was going to Jamie's place, when Jamie's place used to be Jamie and Kirin's. But that was what she'd told Jimmy and he hadn't commented. Kirin had been gone so long she'd started to wonder... No. That wasn't the sort of thing she needed to be thinking when going to check up on the man's partner and lover.
As she reached his door, it dawned on her that she couldn't be more wrong for the job. By then, though, it was too late to turn back.
