Candice had a fondness for Texas weather and flying to and from New York every week. At least that was the extent to which she had explained herself to Carmen. The excuse had probably done nothing to impress the other woman but unless Thompson needed her - or Lance made a sudden reappearance - she was free to do what she wanted of her weekend.
By midday on Saturday, she was waiting in her car, outside a familiar house, dialing a number she couldn't forget even if she wanted to. Which was perhaps fortunate that she didn't.
She waited until someone picked up - sincerely hoping it wasn't Billy or his dad. "I know where you live."
