The cardboard box was nearly as tall as she was. Charlie peered inside and started to gently pick through the contents. The box had everything you needed for a festive diner.
Christmas lights and garland and ornaments. There was wall decorations and left over paint for the window decorations.
She hoped she didn't get talked into painting the windows again. She'd had paint everywhere last year. Plus, she wasn't the best artist, either.
The bell rang behind her and she sprang to attention.
"Order's up!"
"Coming," Charlie called. She'd nearly forgotten she was actually working that day.
"Christmas already?" Mike asked, chuckling, as she came and scooped up the plates.
Charlie beamed a smile. "Yes. Well, not quite yet, but I just like bringing everything out early, you know that," she chided.
It was her family (and therefore the diner's) tradition to bring everything out two weeks at least before November was over.
"Right," Mike said, flashing her a grin. "How could I forget."
"Old age," she winked.
Mike rolled his eyes, and swatted at her. "Go serve you're customers."
Charlie flashed him another quick grin before doing what she was told.
The quicker she served everyone, the quicker she could bring out the decorations.
