The journey had been surprisingly short, even after what she'd been expecting from how Wanda explained it. It took her a few moments to regain her breath and orientation after it--travelling from New York to Texas in what felt like less than a minute would do that to a person on their first time.

By the time she was properly composed, a surprising number of people were standing around her. There were really that many people in New York ready to fight this organization? She really should not have been that surprised.

It felt like it had been a lifetime since she was last here. Trapped underneath the imposing building, locked away in a cell like some animal...she wished she believed in karma, because it would be a sweet realization of it today.

She nodded toward the blonde leader of the group. "About time."

Billy gulped for about the billionth time that night. Things were about to get as real as they possibly could get here. He thought that he would be prepared, or trained, or whatever if he answered yes; he hadn't even had much time to pack.

He looked at Amerie, who seemed a million times more pumped and ready for this. He was so jealous.

"I guess I'm about as ready as I'll ever be," he said to no one in particular.

"Big badda boom time, folks."

Lance rolled his eyes. Wouldn't be an act of terrorism without the Maximoff flare for the dramatic.

Shifting slightly in his stance, he tucked his hands in his pockets, eyeing the jittery group of people. Idly, he wondered what they all could do, whether they were here for payback or just prevention.

Whether anyone had a fucking cigarette.

Billy turned to the man and smiled nervously. "Hey there," he said awkwardly. "Name's Billy. How are you doing?"

"I'm getting ready to blow the shit out of this place," he muttered, raising an eyebrow at the kid. "How the fuck do you think I'm doing?"

Which may've been kind of harsh, he thought, and added, "Lance. By the way."

Billy stared at him, taken aback a bit. Not exactly what he was expecting in a response. He shook it off though, when he heard his name.

"Do you know anyone by the name of Joey, by any chance?" he asked. He sounded exactly the way Joey had said he would.

The second eyebrow joined the first. "Yeah?"

Well, that was just fucking perfect. "Billy from the coffee place, right?"

He glanced over to Pietro, who was still going on about what the hell ever. Lance rolled his eyes. "You like him, huh? Good. He needs a good fuck."

Which also wasn't the epitome of tact. What? He was anxious.

Billy blushed and nodded, trying to remember what Joey had warned him about. "Y-yeah," he admitted. "I'm not sure how much I like him right now." Did this guy know what humility was?

"He says hi, and that you better tell him what we're doing here when you come back, too." he said. "And that he misses you."

And that he misses you.

Lance blinked. What?

"Why didn't you just tell him?" he replied instead. "Obviously you can do something, otherwise you wouldn't be here."

"He has powers?" he asked, dumbfounded. Oh God, he felt like a total jackass now. "I had no idea he did," he told him.

"And he didn't really say he missed you, but the way he was talking about you and this whole situation felt like he did." Guh. When did he start sounding like a therapist. He needed to stop hanging around his mom.

Lance winced. "I didn't say he could do anything."

A shrug. "And yeah, well. He's a sap."

"Implications say otherwise," he countered. Scratch that. Thank goodness he hung around his mother.

"Indeed," he told him. "Needs to work on his people skills, too."

Lance frowned. "He just doesn't have a lot of friends."

What was this kid trying to do? Bring Joey up with him, imply something about their relationship and then insult him?

"Look," he said, annoyed, "if you don't like him, then stay away from him."

"What?" he said, startled. He got flustered and started blushing furiously. "I-I didn't mean that. All I meant was that he was a bit shy. Sorry if it sounded different." The guy really knew how to make someone feel bad. "And I don't know if I like him that way or not yet. I might, but I don't know yet."

Lance sighed, dragging his hand through his hair in frustration.

"Sorry. Just...not a good time to talk."

He shoved his hands in his pockets, glancing at the other boy. "Don't get all...upset or whatever. Explosives and whatnot around."

Billy nodded. "I guess..." He felt bad again. He'd already managed to make Joey upset, and now his friend was being weird, too. "Sorry I made you mad," he told him.
