"So we're cool now?" Billy questioned his boyfriend hopefully. He was at Teddy's family's bakery, helping out like he usually did a couple of times a week. They were in the kitchen right now, wearing aprons over the uniform t-shirt of the store. Billy was leaned against one of the kitchen's many ovens, waiting for the croissants he'd thrown in to finish. He felt bad that day in Central Park, leaving Teddy there wihtout an explanation. He confessed most of what had happened, excluding of course the parts that involved mystical powers.

Teddy smied and held Billy tight for a moment. The boy responded to the warming gesture by hugging him back, enjoying the slightly larger boy's closeness. "We were always cool," he heard Teddy say. "I just get worried about you, especially when you don't talk."

Billy laughed and pushed the boy off of him. "What's that supposed to mean?" he demanded.

Billy chuckled and leaned against another oven. "It means we have a customer, and you're better at talking to strangers than me." He waved his hand to the entrance of the kitchen, and sure enough, someone was waiting at the cash register.

Shit.

The woman was waiting, and Teddy's family would get mad at both him and Teddy if she was neglected. Why is it always me? he asked himself.

He steeled himself and walked up to the counter, the picture of dignity (in his mind). "Welcome to Altman Family Bakery. How may I help you?"
