Ilya was still creepy as hell, as far as Eden was concerned. But she was remembering to give him his space, and that seemed to help things.
Of course, there were a lot of very good reasons they'd been sent out together. The police, said the newspaper article in her hands, had had an anonymous tip about a Crucifixionist attack right here in Odessa. No body, which meant a survivor, and material evidence, which meant a psychometrist. And her, because cops were not best known for their willingness to hand over things like that just because you wanted them to. Usually.
Only a couple of weeks ago, Eden would never have pictured herself voluntarily driving into a police station, she thought ruefully as she pulled into a parking space. "Here we are," she said helpfully.
